Dear DCS comunity,

i am always curious how much people are willing / able to spend for their hobby.

I like to make a polling to figure out what the community wants, and what they are willing to spend for it, for something like in the attached pictures.

The polling is for a F18C cockpit replica as perfect as technical possible,

1 functional with the related DCS module, based on the information that can get from Lua interface.

2 DIY or finish

3 without visual system ( no screen, no projector),

4 with MFD and other displays inside the cockpit

5 no computer, everthing get connected over interfaces like USB / VGA/ DP/ HDMI

I don't want that this goes to complicated, please read first before you vote, and think it is avaliable.

I am happy for every construcktive comment and suggestion.

Thanks

Sven

I've pieced together my pit to make a pretty universal setup; it's easy to swap between stick/wheel/yoke and nothing is specific to any one sim. I've probably spent $1-2K on it, but I'd never be willing (or able) to spend that much at once, much less on a single airframe cockpit.

I would be interested in a "simpler" cockpit, but with all panels and functions.

For example, simplified panels on the left- and right consoles. One massive one-layered panel on each side instead of multiple small panels.

But if you make console kits, you could have the choice to use one big panel, or the individual ones.

Anyway, I would be willing to pay $2000 for cockpit and panels.

Why did you make a poll where it is possible for one person to check multiple answers?

ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

As far as I could see here on the forums, a lot of the fun a home cockpit provides is the process of building one. The building part, working with different materials and technologies, the challenge "How close can I get it to the real thing?", etc.

Providing a plug&play turnkey system does not really offer that. Also the costs, which otherwise would be spread over several months or even years, would have to be funded at once - which is probably also not really a "fun aspect". :o)

Components and parts would probably a better way to sell stuff like this. This might be especially true for components which are otherwise hard to get or replicate. HOTAS/HOCAC are probably the most prominent ones, but also other complicated stuff, like for example CDUs and the like.

@ cichlidfan Hi, i put more than one question in the poll, not sure is clever, but will see.

i think the most people will have interest in DIY and buying from time to time some parts,as it is a hobby, will see, the poll is for 30 days.

thanks for the comments.

Sven
