So, i've played this mission a solid dozen times now, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to kill the F-16s. These things are unreal in their ability to spot and kill. If there were just two of them, I think it would be manageable by using my wingman to keep one busy while i skragg the other, but I cannot figgure out how to make 2 SU-27s kill 4 AI F-16s (the MiGs don't even count in this equation, the F-16s kill both of them in their first volley before i can even engage.)

any advice? ACMI files uploaded.

Have you tried rushing into WVR? I haven't played the mission you're referring to, but I have somewhat similar self made mission where I'm in a F-15 with one wingman vs 4 MiG-29. To my disappointment I found that my wingman is basically useless. All he ever does is fire an AIM-7 that misses 99% of the time and then forever remain on the defensive.

My AIM-7's tend to fail quite often at BVR so what I ended up doing was sending my wingman to engage ASAP while I break way left at full burned to build speed. This tends to break up the enemy group so it's not 4 vs 1.25, but instead 2-3 vs 1 + 1-2 vs .25. Since the AI won't launch while they have a missile in the air, you might be able to get a kill with a wall timed WVR shot just before merge. This should be easy with R-73. If that works, hopefully it leaves you in a simple 1 v 1 that you should end quickly. After that, chase down the two that are attacking your wingman.

IMHO 2xSu27 vs 4xF16 (or 2xF15 vs 4xMiG29) is completely unrealistic. If it is not like "2x TopGun Aces vs 4x Amateurs", those out-numbered pilots would turn away asap they see number of opponents on radar/rwr...

I thought the US Air Force trained against superior numbers as well. With success. Or am i wrong?

i dream of a day when AI is so superb and software so advanced we will give voice commands to AI and it will do exactly as ordered)) lol.. i can already imagine: no, you do not go on defensive, fire back, i demand it!))

That advanced AI will reply to most players with: Scr** you i'm not going to kill myself. You and your stupid Kamikaze orders. And then starts telling you what tactics need to be employed :p

With ARH missiles I think it's pretty realistic. A bit more harrowing with SARH perhaps, but you could tip things in your favor with ECM and superior SA as well as just plain out ranging the other guys.

You've got to get in fast and support those MiGs, give the trailing element of F-16s something to change their opinion on the MiGs.

I don't want to brag but I flew the mission just once and completed it first go whilst cooking a chilli burger with onions.

It was not without trouble though, firstly I had difficulty finding the MiGs.

When I did find them and saw the 4 F-16s fixed on them I asked my wingman to engage the trailing F16 while I tried to engage the other trailer. This was to free up the MiGs with only two bandits to deal with, unfortunately my wingman for some weird bug reason was locked onto me for the whole initial engagement which screwed me up quite a lot whilst I tried to get him to drop lock on me. He finally got splashed by AIM-120.

I was forced defensive but because of the mountainous area I was able to re-engage the two encroaching bandits and aided with the MiGs presence I splashed all 4 F-16s.

I even had time to go AFK to finish off cooking my burger but unfortunately must have overflown the A-10s but was able to find them and got in a bit of a mess with them.

I splashed 4 A-10s before RTB for medals and cake.

Did you notice MiGs are not engaging F-16s? I remeber in the past they were attacking them.

1st tacview, you did the right thing engaging early, but did you ask your wingman to engage another bandit? You also flew too direct and stayed too high at too close a range and ended up getting splashed in a head on when you should have used cover or wingman for support.

2nd tacview, this was the worst start possible you flew in high but left your wingman behind by a long way, you never engaged anything so had 4 F-16s bunched together for your wingman to face when you went defensive. He obviously got splashed and you did also because again you were too high at too close a range against active missiles.

3rd tacview, you did well initially, engaged from range, got a bandit defensive, switched targets and splashed the other, but yet again you stayed too high and too direct lost your SA and got splashed.

4th tacview, you left your wingman behind creating yourself as the main singular target again, you engaged early and high which was good but after splashing one you carried on too direct with no support and too high and of course yet again met your maker.
