WTF? Problem with FW-190 in mission editor

Installed the "authentic" texture pack for the FW-190 a couple of days ago (with the *.lua files). Now I cant place the plane on an airfield without the game to crash and I have to force close DCS World from the task manager. I can however place all my other aircraft just fine, it is only with the FW-190 that this crash occur.

 

I have done a repair, no go... Uninstalled the whole DCS World and reinstalled and also all my other modules. Same problem. Dont now what to do next,

 

Suggestions?

I don't know how those skins would have been the cause but I have to guess that you did not rename/delete your saved games folder when you reinstalled or repaired the sim. Try renaming your Saved Games\DCS to something else then test again.

It was worth a try but no... same problem still.

Are you sure the skins are removed? When you reinstalled, did you delete the original installation folder? Uninstalling the game will leave the installation folder containing any files that were not part of the original installation and reinstalling into that folder will still leave the existing files intact.

Campaign progress and control settings are all in the Saved Games folder, so they stay safe during changes to the game itself.

You can write any error on those lua files for those skins and game will not crash... Probably will make the plane orange but that's about it.

 

That mod works fine anyway.

 

Surely you got another problem.

Well, got it to work at last. Complete uninstall with Revo Uninstaller, renamed save folder, Reinstallad, Works!

 

Though I lost all my mods but they can be installed again.

Glad to hear you got it fixed.

 

I would recommend using JSGME for your mod management. It makes it extremely easy to remove mods when they cause issues, without going through what you just did.

Well, it seems that the problem was that I left the *.zip file in the liveries\fw-190d9 folder after unzipping *duh* *stupid*

 

Yes, I´m using JSGME, or "was using" before the uninstall. :music_whistling:

Then you have a backup of your Mods folder, right? :)

 

I still think there was another problem, the zip file should have just been ignored. Ah well, it really doesn't matter as long as it's working now.

Sadly I didn´have a backupfolder. Will remember next time.

 

The problem was that I left the zip file in the "original" liveries\fw-190d9 folder, not the _MODS folder that I used in JSGME. Don´t know why because all my other mods was ran trough JSGME. I guess I simply forget :music_whistling:

 

Well, it´s up and running again and all mods are back :thumbup: (with real textures for the FW)
