Stratos Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Is there any way to use the Vikhr with the Skhval damaged? I mean aim using the HUD only if that is possible at all. Thanks. I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Flagrum Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Afaik you can shoot them unguided if you enable launch override. But I guess, you want them guided, but want to lock the target without the TV screen, right?
Chlebakus Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 It is some interesting thing to try ingame. Vikhrs are deployable without HUD. It is just a challenge to get aiming reticle into locked area when you dont see it. But will it work vice versa? Vikhrs can be fired without Shkval solid lock. If your HUD allows you to set target with HMS, maybe it could work. But I honestly think it will not. Even if you manage to shoot it, you will most likely miss the target. These are mainly penetrating rockets with light explosive warhead, so they won't damage a thing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
remi Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Vikhr needs laser which is in same housing as shkval. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

You are right that otherwise, without the HUD, to figure out where it's pointing is tough.
ShuRugal Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Without the Shkval (which is what the OP asked after all....) you will not be able to guide your Vikhrs. You can, however, set maual launch mode and use them as rockets. What I usually do in this case is flip the jettission mode switch to "Armed" and them chain them off all at once with "expedite ATGM launch". Better probability of a hit that way.
