Vespa Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 First of all sorry if this is not the correct section to post my info request. After issues with latest DCS update I decided to keep two DCS installation on my PC. I have reinstalled DCS running the 1.2.8. exe file I downloaded some time ago, following the sticky updater post I succesfully updated it to the 1.2.9 version. So now on my PC I have DCS 1.2.9 and 1.2.10, in separate folder of course. The question is...do both installation use c:\user\saved games\DCS folder to save scripts and other files? How can I force my DCS installtion to use different folders for scripts and so on? Thanks

Thanks yes you can, at least for the 1.2.10 (don't remember if this works in 1.2.9, sorry): in the dcs install folder create a text file dcs_variant.txt with a single line, for example the word "newer" - without the quotes. Now your 1.2.10 install will use Saved Games\DCS.newer\ folder. you can use any word as long as it uses A-Z a-z 0-9 - _ charset (Base64url, technically). Edited September 17, 2014 by c0ff Dmitry S. SkateZilla Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I use DCS Installer and DCS OPenBeta Installer to keep 2 separate versions, As the open Beta uses it's own /Saved Games/DCS Open Beta/ Folder for it's Stuff. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs

Oh yes, it's the most user-friendly way to have 2 dcs instances. Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.

The hint worked fine. I prefer to have the open beta installation, the latest updated 1.2.10 and a previous 1.2.9.
