tomudesu
Hi all, I have been having trouble since installing Mig 21 and the latest update, so I did a clean reinstall. It didn't fix the problem. When I launch a mission, the game will hang on the splash screen. When I force close the program, it backs out to the debriefing screen with the no data recorded message. Sometimes, if I close the program and restart it, it will load a mission, but most of the time, it just hangs on the splash screen. No hardware or system changes, and the problem only started occurring after installing Mig 21bis and the latest update, and the problem occurs in all aircraft. Attached is my log files. Thank you for all your help!Logs.rar
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 21, 2014 ED Team Share Posted September 21, 2014 Hi tomudesu, what are your system specifications? and how long are you waiting? There has been a slight hang noticed by some but it clears after a 30sec / 1 minute wait. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? tomudesu
I have let it run for as long as 15 minutes, but generally it is pretty obvious that it has stopped working because the HD activity LED stops after 30 to one minute, which is about the time the game would start to load when it was working. Sorry I forgot to add my system specs. Thank you for your help!

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 21, 2014 ED Team Share Posted September 21, 2014 Specs look fine. Try this goto C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS and rename the DCS folder so you can keep it as a backup. now restart DCS and it will create a new folder, you will need to redo your options, and then try starting a mission up. if this does work you can transfer your inputs config over so you do not have to do them again. tomudesu
I already had the latest versions of C+ and DirectX. Well...I wanted to see if it was hardware or software, so I reinstalled Windows, which is something I have been meaning to do for a while. I upgraded from Win' to 8.1, and DCS World runs flawlessly. Sometimes starting over is just the ticket. Thank you for your help!

Dominges
Just providing more info on the topic, had the exact same issue, and fixed it. Also tried reinstalling DCS World completely, tried repair, checked runtimes, et cetera. The problem was in the japanese keyboard layout, after the last update DCS decided that it doesn't want to work with JP keyboard layout active anymore (Although it performs exactly as default EN layout until switched to kana mode by Alt + ~ combination), and after i removed it and added back a standard EN one, it stopped hanging on splash. Hope this gonna be helpful for someone. I regularly use 4 different keyboard layouts, and switching away from japanese one makes the game work fine.
Eihort
I'm having the same issue, however, I do not use any other keyboard layouts than EN. Can't even start from the MP shortcut, the exe just hangs. It also likes to sometimes spawn a slew of dllhost.exe threads. One time, it even asked again for BS 2 activation. Everything was working flawlessly, and no changes to my config at all, and now can't get DCS.exe to finish launching. Stops around 64mb of mem usage.
