mipko Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 hello friends, I just tried facetrackernoIR free tracker setup and want to inform you that it works :) It is a bit choppy but it will give me fun until trackIR arrives. The good thing is that there are no wires or anything - only webcam and piece of software and it is FREE :) I have tried it with MIG 21 and it is whole lot of fun :) regards Mirko 1
Mtnbiker1998 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I've been looking into facetracknoir for a few days now thinking about installing it. What kind of set up does it require? Is it simply download, start up dcs and enjoy or is there more to it? mipko Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Hi, Just download following: facetracknoIR v1.70 v1.70 hotfix depending on your system 32 bit or 64 bit you need to download either file Eagle Dynamics API 32bit Eagle Dynamics API 64bit Install facetrackernoIR, hotfix and deploy ED API. than start tweaking with curves, and profile. I hope this gives you initial hints. I have sony camera some that comes with the TV - nothing fancy and it works quite OK. You can check camera compatibility list on facetrackernoIR web site. regards Mipko

Mtnbiker1998 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Alright! I think I'm almost done annoying you... I think I have everything set up, I'm still tweaking it but I can look around, although I have one last issue. I can't click any buttons in the P-51 cockpit. mipko Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Hi biker, I have no clue for that issue - check mouse events in control options. M
Mowgli Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 using FTNIR with microsoft HD3000 web cam - gets 30 FPS. if i buy the PS3 Eye camera can i use it without the 3LEDclip? on the web i saw instructions to remove a filter if i don't use a clip? is it right? thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel i5 4690K | ASUS Z-97PRO Gaming Mobo | Nvidia Gigabyte GTX970 3.5/0.5 GB Windforce3 | G.Skill Ripjaws-X 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz | Samsung Evo 120GB SSD | Win10 Pro | Antec 750w 80 Bronze Modular
mota67 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Hi, If you have a PS3 Eye you can use it without 3LEDclip and without removing any filters in the cam. You will have to use the FaceAPI as tracker source.
Knowlynn Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 using FTNIR with microsoft HD3000 web cam - gets 30 FPS. if i buy the PS3 Eye camera can i use it without the 3LEDclip? on the web i saw instructions to remove a filter if i don't use a clip? is it right? thanks I use a ps3eye(filter remover) with a 3 led hat at 60fps. You do not need a clip if you use the built in face tracking software. However, you can use point tracking with an led clip which is WAY more responsive and accurate. If you want to use face tracking, you do not need to remove the IR filter. You only need to remove the IR filter if you plan on useing a clip with IR LEDs (like trackir). If you do decide to remove the ps3eye IR filter you can pm me for help. There are two types of ps3eyes out there. The one I got was of the type which is harder to modify. Thanks guys for the quick response and info. wanna try it just to get more stability via FPS. here in Israel there isn't any seller/importer of TrackIR so it's only if someone is flying to the states.:noexpression: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel i5 4690K | ASUS Z-97PRO Gaming Mobo | Nvidia Gigabyte GTX970 3.5/0.5 GB Windforce3 | G.Skill Ripjaws-X 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz | Samsung Evo 120GB SSD | Win10 Pro | Antec 750w 80 Bronze Modular
txmtb Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 If using the point tracker test it first before going through the hassle of removing the IR filter. I use a removable camera visible light filter on my Ps3Eye to block visible light and it works great without removing the IR filter. This would include; Building your own led hat(3 IR LEDs, resistor, wires, usb cable) Removing the IR filter and adding a visible light filter(2 layers of floppy disk magnetic film does the trick) Good instructions can be found here http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=1856 Since the shipping costs of all the tiny inexpensive parts that you need will likely be a fix rate, it might be a good idea to but spare parts and give them to friends if Israel is in need of head tracking. Knowlynn Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 and yes i tried once to build my own clip and ended up frustrated. should give it another chance! thanks mate peace I would recommend building a 3 point hat over the 3 point clip because it is more vertically symmetrical. I originally built a clip which was mounted onto the left side of my headphones. I found that looking far right was much easier then looking far left so I developed a habit of always looking right to check my 6. Since switching to a 3 point hat looking left and right feels the same. I am considering a wireless setup similar to a trackir 5 reflective clip. Basically I would take the 3 IR leds from my hat and mount them next to my ps3eye. Then, mount three reflective surfaces on my hat. I'm just not sure how well it would work so I am hesitant. Aerovenator Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I use facetracknoir a long time. First I used it with the faceAPI but was never satisified with it. It was not very steady and so I had difficulties using the cockpit switches. I am not an engineer:-), so soldering my own LED Clip was not an option. Then I found this site and bought a DelanClip for 25 GBP. http://www.delanengineering.com/ Using the delanclip with the Point tracker is marvellous compared with the faceApi. One hint: Instead of using the filter within the package (which dimmed the camera too much in my room) I used the "glasses" of a 3D eyeglass from the cinema. Thanks to polarization you can define the filter strength by using both foils and twisting them against each other.
