Hey guys, after startup, throttle up when I lift off I only get about 5 feet off the ground and a hydraulic warning- I flipped the switch on the back right console- am I missing another?

IT could be a number of things, It would be faster and easier if you post a track. It could be the throttle are not at full power. It could be you are moving a switch you don't have to. You should not need to move any switches to get correct Hydraulic pressure. As long as rotor is sniping at correct RPM. What switch did you move on the back right?

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Had a problem like that with Auto Start-up - the APU was cutting out

Check the engine dials 1 and 2 (Dual engine RPM indicator on the right forward panel) - both should be at the 8.

Had to re-activate the APU, let it provide power and then restart Engine 2

I also noticed on Auto-Start that once engine 2 gets to about 50% the APU cuts out. This leaves the engine spooling up on its own, which under most engines I have ran on aircraft, seem to be about the norm. But I would think that once both engines have stabilized, then you could shut the APU off. Or thats how I have always done it.

I fly the Ka a lot and "sometimes" if you use Autostart, it just stumbles over it's own feet, maybe 1 in 30 startup procedures. 1 engine, usually the latter one, I think it is the right one, fails to start and if you don't notice it ( baaaad Pilot ) you have a nice surprise 2 feet after lift off.

You can leave the APU running if you think you will need it, it consumes a few more L/h, that is all.

It can pay back to know how to restart an engine while airborne out of memory with a few dedicated clicks.

If you flew online while that happened, it might also be that random failure was ON and that caused your failure... just one possible explanation.

The Ka is not very hard to start up all by hand, do it a few times, maybe a 2nd screen ( laptop ) aside with the right YT video and you will have it memorized in no time, if you forget something, well, you will find that out soon after.

btw... it flies pretty good with 1 engine if you make her LIGHT and keep her rather FAST.

just in case that 1 engine won't get back to life in the middle of something :)
