Finnsky Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Hey guys, I started playing DCS a couple of days ago and I love it! I can start up the aircraft, take off, I even managed to shoot some none moving targets in the tutorial missions :D I can't land, but who needs that anyways... But I have encountered a problem that I couldn't find on the forums and even after reading half the manual I have no Idea how to solve it. For some reason my TDC (as well as the "cross" in the TAD and the crosshair in the TGP and MAV) always focuses on the depressible pipper. I can't slew them around or better said, every time I move them they move right back to the pipper as soon as I stop slewing. This is rather annoying, because it basically makes it impossible to aim with the TGP and the TAD is always zoomed out as far as possible because of this. At first I thought it was a problem with my Joystick (Logitech 3D Pro), but I had it working correctly in 1 or 2 occasions. I just have no Idea what I did different :D I hope it is understandable what I am trying to say, otherwise I will make a short video to demonstrate it. Thanks for your help :) ----------------- edit: I made a little video showing the problem In the beginning you can see me right after I startet a mission. I startet in the air to make sure it's not a wrong start up procedure or something like that. Right after the start I try to slew the TDC around on the HUD but it does not really work. It is slaved to the depressible pipper. When I move it down or up it always returns to the pipper as soon as i release the slew hat. I can only move it left and right within the limits off the pipper. After that I hit the "return to boresight" button, but the results are the same. After that I look at the TAD. As soon as I switch the SOI to it it follows the TDC and zooms out, I cannot get it to zoom in again. The same can bee seen for the TGP. As long as it is not SOI everything is fine, when I make it SOI I cannot move the pod. I hope this makes my problem a little bit more clear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHlN...ature=youtu.be Edited September 26, 2014 by Finnsky
Buzpilot Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) If you have Maveric slaved, I guess you can't move it, unless you do from a active TGP window. Press TGP or TAD twice, to make it soi or active, it should move then. WildBillKelsoe Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 the logic behind A-10 is having all sensors slaved to a particular SOI's SPI. If you do spot a target on the ground, try using TDC (HUD's SPI- the box) to lock it up (TMS up long) then slave the rest of sensors to it. Finnsky Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Thank you for yours answers! I know about SOI's and SIP's, but I guess my first post was a bit unclear. So i recorded a little video showing the problem. Sorry for it beeing a bit laggy, my cpu didn't like the extra load from the recording software. In the beginning you can see me right after I startet a mission. I startet in the air to make sure it's not a wrong start up procedure or something like that. tommytank Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 So i recorded a little video showing the problemCouldn't open the video, youtube says it is private?
Buzpilot Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Hard to say whats wrong, looks like you have binded the y slew axis to some unknown device, pulling it up, make sure you delete the default cloned bindings if you have more than one joystick or control device in option A-10C axis list. Finnsky Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Thank you for your help, This was my first thought as well, couldn't find anything there but I will look again. The weird thing is that I had it working sometimes, but I don't know what I did differently. Another argument against this theory is the fact that i can only slew inside the pipper. In the vid you can see me trying to slew left and right, but it only goes a little bit before stopping.
Corrigan Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Yep, I'd bet my firstborn that's a controller issue. Faulty bind or a broken device. You could try unplugging everything and see what happens just using the keyboard. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Buzpilot Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Just to make sure it's not a new bug, i unplugged my Hotas too, but could not find anything wrong here. You could try deleting your config folder, but you will need to set up your options and settings from default again. It's in :\Documents\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input i5 4670 - Sabertooth Z87- GTX Titan - Dell U3011 30" - 2x8GB RAM 1800 - Samsung 840 EVO 512GB SSD - Warthog HOTAS - CH Pro pedals - TrackIR5 - Win7 64bit EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Finnsky Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 It was indeed a messed up joystick control file or something like that. I tried a lot of stuff and eventually reinstalled DCS. With my old joy config the problem was the same, with the default one it is working. The werid thing is, that the probleme was there even when the joystick was unplugged. Thank you for your fast help :) Really great community
Corrigan Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Ain't no thang. Protip for future: you can effectively reset your configs by just renaming the appropriate folder in saved games/dcs world, and the game will create a new folder with everything default upon launch.
