Devil 505 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Has anybody had access or seen the FW-190 training missions? I have updated to the current patch but still do not see the training missions under the training section. I do not even have a tab for the 190. Just curious. I noticed on the official update news, it stated there would be training missions in the new patch. Regards Robert
Lizzard Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Hi, first are you sure you run the correct Version 1.2.10.32275? Do you use the DCS updater or Steam? Is the FW-190 Module working correctly (can you fly the Dora). Try the following..go to DCS World/mods/ folder, there should be 2 folders named aircraft and aircrafts. Rename the aircrafts folder to aircrafts_old and then do a repair (Start/Programs/Eagle Dynamics/repair DCS World). Also check prior to the repair that your DCS World/_downloads folder is empty! My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Devil 505 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Did as you said down to the letter. The 190 fly's just fine. Under the missions folder there are three or four, but under the training tab, I do not have the FW-190 or any training mission. I also verified I have updated to the latest version with no problems or errors. Not sure why they are not there. Any more suggestions? Regards Robert
Lizzard Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 o.k. so is there any content in the "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Missions\EN\Training" Folder?! There should be 2 Folders "Aircraft Operation" and "Combat Employment" containing the Missions. If the Missions are there can you start them manually (Missions / open Mission..etc)?! My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Devil 505 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Lizzard, I checked "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Missions\EN" and there is no training folder or missions there. I have checked every folder to see if they might have uploaded to the wrong place but no dice. I tried updating the game again and still no dice. The only thing I can think of is manually creating a training folder and having someone send me the files. The only problem is, I hope the updater is updating everything correctly on all my aircraft. To the best of my knowledge, it is. Every time ED releases the update corrections list, I notice everything is fixed on all the modules as they have listed. Its just weird the training files are not uploading. I do not know what could be keeping them from uploading. Also, take a look at the screen shot below and tell me if all these back up folders are in your DCS world folder. I did not recognize them until the update. My core folder is under "c:/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/" If you have any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Regards Robert
Lizzard Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) Hi, the backup folders are normal..DCS creates them on every update or repair..you can check whether the training missions are in one of the backup folders..anyway..next step would be to rename your "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Missions" folder to "Missions_old" and try a repair again (really a repair not an update!)..the updater has to recognize the missing Missions Folder and should download it. If this does not help I am slowly running out of ideas.. Maybe there are some hints in your autoupdate.log EDIT you could also try to use the newest updater (copy to DCS World\bin folder). Then follow the instructions for a repair here Edited September 30, 2014 by Lizzard My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Devil 505 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 Lizzard, This is to weird. Tried everything BUT re downloading DCS world and putting the new updater in the bin folder. It looks like I have to download all 6 files again and then re install possibly? This is crazy. Everything else is updated including all modules AND DCS world. Everything works fine so I am on the fence whether it is even worth going through the trouble for the 190 training missions. I don't suppose there is a way for you to post them on this board so I can download them and create the folder manually? How are the training missions anyways? Is it worth all the trouble or should I just watch youtube videos? I appreciate all the attempted help. I am not one for giving up on this stuff because I typically always win in the end, but I just can not bring myself to erase everything and start over from scratch. To much time!!!! Regards Robert
Art-J Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) They're nothing extraordinary and If you have a basic knowledge how to operate the plane you can live without them, the question is, however, If Your updater obviously didn't do its job properly, what else is (or rather isn't) there? For Fw-190 there should be 3 single, 6 quick start and 5 tutorial missions total, but I'm thinking about other content as well. Devil 505 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) This is my concern to. I am pretty sure everything else updated fine but I guess I should go ahead and download DCS world again to install this latest version of the updater. I did not think that would matter since it updates with the current one. The version number to the game in the lower right hand of the main screen matches the newest version. This is a real pain in the ass. I still love DCS though! And I verified I have the six and three other mission. Was there ever any training missions for the F-86? Lizzard Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) Hi Robert, sorry I have no Webdrive and the zipped Training missions are too big for an attachment. But as said by Art-J the Dora is a very easy Bird in terms of pushing buttons and flipping switches..so youtube vids and the Manual do the Job easily. Anyway..your Problem is really strange..you could also allways open a support Ticket on the ED Website to have a ED guy have a close look what is going wrong.. One more / last thing..would you post your latest autoupdate.log?! Maybe we can find something Edited October 1, 2014 by Lizzard My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Devil 505 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 I re downloaded DCS world to a folder on my desktop and installed it to check and make sure the updater was the current version. The one I have in my main folder under program files is the brand new one I just downloaded. So I know the version is current. The one and only thing I can think of at this point is my Eagle Dynamis/DCS World folder is under C:/Program Files instead of C:/Programs Files (x86). I am not sure what the difference is. I have no spyware currently active so that is out of the question. I am posting my auto update log. Let me know what you find. I looked through it and could not find any hint of the 190 updates. I hope I can get this fixed. This sucks. Regards Robertautoupdate_log.txt
Devil 505 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 Well, holy sh_t!!!! Problem solved. I have been updating DCS World through the updater under the start/program files/eagle dynamics/dcs world/update dcs world. It has been updating just fine, so I never launched manage modules while at the main screen when you launch the game. In a last ditch attempt, I logged into it and launched it and behold by f_ing eyes, it recognized all my modules and updated all the missing files including the training missions for the 190. I also learned that program files (x86) is for 32 bit software and your regular program files is for 64 bit os. Well mission accomplished gents. I really appreciate all the help. Learned a lot the past 24 hours. Thanks again. See you in game! Regards Robert
Lizzard Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Ha..yes DCS can be a bitch sometimes..with all the updaters and Module managers:) My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
