Hi,

Right now, im assigned to support 2 squads to reach a objective or something, "Push-8.1". But they always get killed.

when should I contact them? When I have taken care of hostiles, when I reach their area or..?

Any advices appreciates.

Also, I want to drop off bombs, but those SAM's and god knows what always shoot me down.. I cant fly low when flying bombs eh, but how high do I gotta go to stay out of SAM's range and similar AA's`?

What I do is that i look in the mission planner where the two friendly groups are moving and then take out any resistance along those routes before telling them to advance.

Stay around 20.000ft to be out of range for most SAM's. However, you will still not be out of range for ALL SAMS. The Buk system will practically always be able to reach you no matter how high you go in the A-10C...

If you are being shot at by manpads (Igla) then 14000ft AGL will be enough, same for strelas. You won't have to worry about AAA at that altitude. If you are engaged by radar guided sams like chrisofsweden said: overflying not possible in most cases.

I think I have flown this mission recently and it was impossible to save them. 1 minute longer cold start and they got destroyed before you can even reach fence point. These missions in campaign are always waste of time, because these convoys wont move and reach anything anyway. A10 is also really bad at destroying multiple heavy armored tanks, so you are very hardly able to clear a way for your allies. I would rather jump into Ka-50 or Su-25T.

Word on that! It totaly sucks at destroying multiple tanks in one strafe...

Though, u do know that u can clear their path FIRST, then tell them to advance. Then just RTB and fast forward untill mission completed :p

The way I completed this was:

Study the route thoroghly in the briefing. Maybe even write down coordinates for turns along the route or make steerpoints.

Dont tell them to advance until every threat (tanks, bmps) are eliminated.

Use mavericks as much as possible, or save them for the targets deep within the SA-11s range and use bombs/ lgbs for the ones closest the friendlies.

Use the wingmans bombs to attack targets just outside the sa-11s range, have give him the best attack direction (beaming the threat) in hopes he doesnt get engaged and jettison his weapons.

Once everything you can find is clear, contact the jtac for anything he has. If nothing else, tell them to advance and remain in the area until theyve reached their first checkpoint.

Either RTB and control-z the time and hope for the best, or refuel/ rearm as necessary

Sounds smart, but I am not so dumb. I can clear their way. Problem with this mission is different. They tend to die before you can even reach the area and I haven't found any radio comm in the menu where I can tell them to advance. I can speak just with flights. I have met three similar missions in campaign and they always end in unability to make allied units move. I blame screwed radio communications.

Solution? Fail the mission two-three times in a row and get another scenario.
