Cobra847 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) DCS: MiG-21bis FAQ Way overdue thread; apologies everyone. We're completely swamped. Suggestions for FAQ welcome -- PM me! I'm having Activation issues, what do I do? While we have just recently relaxed the hardware requirements on the serial numbers, if you are still having issues, use the contact form found here: http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/270-2/ How do I raise my Gear? LShift + G, and then G. Make sure you run through the tutorials and read the manual so you understand what you're actually doing with the gear lever (neutral, lock, compressed air waste) How do I remove the red marker in the centre of the screen? Game Options -> Uncheck Padlock. If the setting is forced in mission or MP server options, the icon will appear anyways (pending change.) My FPS is Low? We're working on improving graphical performance. The first batch of changes should be made available with the next patch. We have more planned optimization in progress. Try lowering your in-game graphics settings if you experience unplayable performance in the interim. How do I switch to mouse-look mode? As opposed to DCS standard of Alt - C, in the MiG-21 it is Alt - Shift - C Where do I find the Manual? If you can't find the generated shortcuts, the documentation will be in <DCS Install>/Mods/Aircraft/MIG-21/Doc Where is the Paintkit? To be released very soon. Pending UV changes for performance improvements. Watch this space. Where are the additional promised liveries? Also to be released very soon. Need to be updated to new UVs. I'm a backer and I didn't receive anything? Leave us a reminder using the contact form here: http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/270-2/ Something is terribly wrong! Uh-oh. Better contact us promptly. :) http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/270-2/ Thanks, Nick & Leatherneck Edited October 2, 2014 by Cobra847 1 Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

Richard C. Russell Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Where controls for left/right wheel brake or nose wheel steering? Can not taxi a/c.
Flagrum Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Where controls for left/right wheel brake or nose wheel steering? Can not taxi a/c. There is no nose wheel steering. Instead, the MiG uses differential braking - but with a little "twist": you don't have separate brakes for each wheel. Instead you apply brake pressure (brake handle at the stick) and then use the rudder to alter the brake pressure for one wheel. Or to be more precise: by applying the brake, both wheels are braked. When you then push the rudder, let's say to the right, the brake pressure for the LEFT wheel is released. So you end up with a braked right wheel while the left wheel is (not as much) braked - and you will turn right. This takes a bit of practice as both, the amount of rudder input and the amount of overall brake pressure, influences your turn radius (and ofc speed).
FoReIgNeR Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) The way to steer on the taxiway is to use your rudder and press the brake lever. The rudder pedals control the brake pressure valves to the left and right gear, the lever opens the compressed air flow. Additionally, turn the nose wheel brake off for better ground handling. Geronimo989 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Is there any special control to turn on the second stage afterburner? I see that AI migs have different shaped exaust flame when going full speed, is it possible that they are using "more" afterburner than me at full throttle? both afb lights are on.

Yes, the emergency afterburner has a switch just infront of the thrust levers. I am not sure what afterburner the AI is using, but I think the different shape is just because the AI uses the default afterburner effect, while the player controlled aircraft does use a custom effect. The AI however generally outpowers the actual flyable aircraft in nearly every module.
