I've followed a lot of YouTube videos and the SU25T manual and I've had a lot of issues with the shvak not ground locking correctly.

At times it will lock to a random target rather than the spot on the ground where it is pointed or it simply will completely refuse to lock whatsoever. I am trying to figure out how to avoid both of these behaviors.

At the moment I am using the 25L attempting to get a lock and it just seems to refuse to ground lock whatsoever.

Pressing the "lock" button with lock the shkval to the ground as oppose to swaying around with the movements of your aircraft. Just beyond the max range of the 25L the shkval will auto lock onto objects with hard edger(aka a vehicle that you have the cursor over).

Regardless of whether or not the shkval has acquired a lock on an object with hard edges(which it always will just before maximun range) it will still fire and follow the laser(cursor) once in range.

You can even hit multiple targets with one pass. example: lock a target and fire once in range, count 4 seconds in your head and fire a second. Once the first missile hits slew the cursor to the seconds target. Since you fired the missiles with a 4 seconds interval (or, whatever interval you want), you know the second missile will impact in 4 seconds, therefore, you have 4 seconds to slew the cursor to the seconds target(it will hit as long has it is not too far away for the missile to maneuver).

Remember to turn the laser on. Good luck!

I've attempted to lock from very short range to a longer range (anywhere from 600-2000R). For whatever reason it is refusing to ground lock. Earlier it worked then suddenly stopped.

I wonder is that realistic to be able fire multiple Vikhr?

As in KA-50 the firing in pairs (medium or long burst switch) happens so that the first missile is fired but not until second is fired does the laser get lazing target.

And Shkval system tracks the missile by timing the laser cone angle based estimated impact and range. Meaning the laser cone gets narrower at the missile flight time, longer the missile then narrower the laser beam.

The Shkval laser beam is just about 7m wide (if I remember correctly) and kept about that at missile distance. So if you fire multiple few seconds after each other:

A) the later missiles are not so accurate as the first one.

B) the laser guidance could stop after first missile hit is counted out

C) Firing new Vikhr resets the beam width and counter, making the first missile less accurate.

Now, consider that you ain't flying directly at the target, and you quickly find that multiple missiles are flying out of the cone because launching platform is changing path to other direction.

You must set your "TV target frame size" to the appropriate size of the target you are trying to lock. For example, if you have it set at 60.. it will not lock a vehicle. A vehicle requires the size of 10. See page 72 of the FC3 manual or page 30 of the Su-25T manual.

In think I see what Marikc0 is saying. On my shkval the TV Target Frame size is larger than 10m when I adjust it to 10 meters it stays for a second but then snaps back to the larger size.

The past several missions I have flown I have had issues with this TV Target Frame Size being larger. When I get it close to a ground target it will not lock... I have to manually reduce the frame size to 10 when its close to the target to get the lock. But when I am flying and not targeting and I try to adjust the Frame size it always snaps back to the larger. I wonder if I have a control Mapping conflict?:joystick:

That's exactly what it was... I got home and checked and I had buttons mapped to my Target Frame Size... I unmapped them and I no longer have issues.
