dynamocl Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 The expansion pack - Rome Barbarian Invasion has been released for a while now. They are even talking about the next game in the series Medieval 2: Total War. RTW has been out for ages now. But it is still a nice change of scenery

Pilotasso Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I actualy liked better the first game in the series. Although the tactics, number and the type of ground units were improved to be in 3D I think the 3D world map gives me a sense of some to be desired. Its very hard to measure up to other empires and the map looks childish and cartoonish. Its harder to manage, consumes more time and its easier to loose track of your empire management. Theres a loss of tactical warfare hype in it, it gets me too worried on ordinary tasks intead of the geo-political and military situations. I want to be a warlord not a housewife!! Each of the rebelious factions of the romans for example are like conflicting nagging kids! I liked the parchemin map and the sound tracks of the first version better. The map fit in the whole screen and I wouldnt have to zoom in so much to manage each region. I could observe what was going on on any part of the borders with a better view of the big picture. Ground units were a bit dumb, they not always traveled to the places where I wanted them to, nor by ways I would like them to though. .
