I was wondering if anyone has a solution to something I am experiencing.

I have the TrackClip Pro v5 which I love.

However, I am finding that in order to see targets, I must lean in to zoom (as one does with TIR).

The problem for me is the more I lean/zoom in, the less I am able to see my HMS.

That is, it moves above my line of site ... until it is completely out of site ... when I need it the most.

Is there a solution for this problem OR must I just get used to aiming the HMS "close" and then fine tuning with the Shkval ... which I expect is necessary in all cases .. however, maybe not to the extent that I am having to do so.

Thanks in Advance.

TrackIR Zoom & HMS Reticle visibility

You need to sit up a you "zoom" in. As you lean forward you must be leaning down too. Not that I use the HMS very much so I've never actually run into this problem. I find it easier to set a zoom key rather than to physically leaned in most times

Thanks "ricktoberfest" and "ZMEY-HS-".

While I am nervous about playing with .lau files (due to a lack of programming experience), it might be just the thing I have to do.

I have to admit, I'm both disappointed and embarrassed that I was unable to find that thread or any others when I conducted my Search, that appears to deal with this issue ... but there it is .. in plain print.

Currently, when I zoom in, I have my chin almost completely tucked into my chest to see even part of the Reticule. Hence my issue and question.

The fact is, while I use and love my TIR, I'd really like to "also" have zoom on my Throttle Slider or the Mouse Wheel on the throttle (collective). But for some reason, I cannot get the Options to recognize either (obviously I'm doing something wrong) ... but that is probably a question for another thread .. in case someone else is also looking for a solution to my original question.

Thanks again to both of you.

What joystick are you using? I have an x52 and while I tried to use an axis for zoom, I found buttons to be better. The axis has too much "noise" to be steady (at least in my case with an older joystick). I sill lean in for zooming within the cockpit, the button zoom is for bigger movements and looking outside the helo

I also currently have and use an older X 52. That said, I have an X 55 on its way (although I learned today that it won't be here until the Week AFTER Next which is very disappointing ... boohoo).

I have used pretty much ALL of my buttons and HAT axis' up on other functions (including Diagonal axis).

I have NOT used the Rotating Wheels on the Throttle/Collective for Ka-50 as I have for other Sims such as the P 51 Mustang and the Huey.

I suppose I could map a Zoom to one of those. I'm just not sure it will work without turning my TIR OFF (i.e. Not using TIR for Zooming) ??? But it sounds to me that you have that figured out. I'd like to hear more.

If you like (and if it seems more fitting due to the original intent of This Thread), you are welcome to PM me. However, I'm easy if you prefer to reply here.

Thanks

TrackIR Zoom & HMS Reticle visibility

I find using the saitek profiler works better, and then use a shift state for many buttons. That way I don't have to redo controls with eery update. I also have different profiles for each aircraft so I just alt-tab out to switch profiles. I my zoom buttons are the two buttons on the upper right of the joystick.

Top to zoom in and bottom to zoom out. Then I can shift them with the pinky button and they become auto hover and radio buttons. I make those the zoom buttons in all my profiles (a10, fc3, and Ka-50) so I don't forget which they are in different aircraft

Zoom works with or without track ir running (although I use facetracknoir)
