Guest Cades Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006  I have lomac gold and it runs very poorly, even with all the graphics set to low and 16 bit color. I'm running a pentium 4 2.6GHz w/hyperthreading 512RAM and I think my video card is a Sony MX440 w/ AGP8X. I'm really disappointed that it isn't running well. I'm downloading the 1.12a patch tonight but I don't know if that will correct performance issues. Anybody have advise? I also have Falcon 4.0 Allied Force and that runs fine with all the settings on maximum! What gives? Thanks, Cades
walternowi Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 I think your specs barely meet the minimum requirements for Lock On. Remember the Falcon 4 graphics engine is more than 5 years old. Hey, I could run F4 just fine with my old Athlon XP 2200+, but I have to set everything to minimum for Lock On. On the other hand, the updated rig in my signature runs Lock On just fine. At a minimum, you need 1 Gig of memory. You might want to upgrade or wait a bit for Conroe or AM2. Weta43 Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 I used to have a 2.4Ghz P4. If you go to 1Gig RAM, turn the graphics down (water => low, shadows => active planar etc. ) & stay in when it's raining you should be OK... Cheers.
Andrew_McP Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006  Sony MX440 w/ AGP8X. I think that will be an Nvidia GeForce mx440, and I'm sorry to have to tell you that is a very slow card for gaming, especially something like LOMAC. The following link will depress you. :-) The 9700Pro is still quite a good card, despite the fact it is several years old. However if you look near the bottom of the list you will find your vid card. http://www.tomshardware.com/2002/12/18/vga_charts_ii/page6.html Andrew McP
Rocket75 Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Yea, your bottleneck is definitely the video card. Heck, I am actually surprised the MX will even run LOMAC, as I use the same card in my office PC. Really a worthless video card for gaming. Prepare to spend some bucks for a card. There is no "cheap" performing card on the market, and if you're not spending $200+ , don't expect much of a gain. :) P4-2.4QC-oc'd to 3.2ghz, 2gb Crucial PC6400 DDR2-1066mhz, Evga 8800GTS 640mb, Sata Drives, TIR3Pro
Gunja Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Register here http://www.lockonfiles.com/ 1. Go to downloads > utulities/mods > modman and get Mod Manager LOMAN 5 Instal and run it once. When opening modman, it will ask you which game you wont modman to adress to, and you select Flaming Cliffs if your game is v1.1 or above. 2. Go to downloads > utulities/mods > FPS Tweaks and you will find some downloads (fps tweak mods) to boost your FPS. Some are compatible only with v1.02, v1.1 or 1.12 , so you look for mods on the list which are for your version. 3. Place your downloaded zip files (dont unzip) in C:\Program Files\ModMan\addons_fc 4. Open your ModManager, click on Add-On Manager button and you'll see the list of addons that you've downloaded and placed in ModMan like explained in step 3. Now just select addon and click instal. ModMan also has a nice Graphic Settings option, where you can change LockOn settings with more options than in game. All of this should improve your framerate but will degrade quality of the graphics. Good luck :)
