Kwiatek Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 For me even without wind there is something strange in take off both in P-51 and D-9 expecially with take off flaps. Planes react something strange too me expecially when rising tailwheel - they start to dance. There should be some gyro moment due to down force to roating prop but at sufficent speed >100 kph it should be easly corrected by rudder in natural way. Even if i got some experience with taildraggers IRL and in sims i still got some problems with clean take offs in DCS. I think BOS make it more accurate and natural way to me. Landings other hand are not a big problem in DCS. IRL landings need much more attention and are more difficulty to master ( expeciall with taildraggers) then take offs. In DCS take offs are harder to do clean then landings which suprise me a lot.
Boris Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 In DCS take offs are harder to do clean then landings which suprise me a lot. I don't think this is the case. Taking off was always fine for me while landing is the challenge. I use 0% take off aids. Highfox Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I just got the Dora in the flash sale and have been having BIG problems with the training take-off and taxi mission. Looking through the forum to try and find out what I may of been doing wrong, I found a post where it said that mission has a strong crosswind (the same as the P-51 crosswind take off mission I guess) Any one know if the training missions can be edited to leave out the wind? Need to build up some confidence first :) Loverly plane once it's in the air. Thanks...
Boris Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Of course you can edit the training missions. I'm at work now, and can't tell you exactly where they are, but they should be somewhere in the FW-190 D-9 folder. Just open the missions up, set the wind to 0 and save. Landing is not a problem without crosswind, but with it i have muuch trouble in Dora and often BOOM :-) because i couldnt get her straight and only a little deflection with wheels and it jumps ...BOOM. P51 is much more forgiving. WIN 10; i9-9900K@4,8GHz; Gigabyte Z390 Aorus;GB Corsair DDR4 3600MHz; 2TB Samsung SSD; RTX4090 watercooled; 34" AW3418DW; MS FFB2 Stick
