Hotas Wathog throttle problem

I have a problem with the Hotas Warthog.

I start the A10C with the throttles in the off position.(Cockpit) Then shift to the Idle position and, start the engines. Take off etc all good. But when ever I drop the throttles to idle the engines shut down/MFCD turn off and, I have to try and restart the engine APU etc.

Are you using target or plug and pray?

 

Check that the Idle/on and off positions are set correctly,

Check 'synchronize Hotas controls' is enabled via options.

 

Before starting up, stir the sticks to endpoint and verify sync

 

If using target, you should know there is one button to control each state for both throttles for 'idle' and 'off' near the inner marks of the control panel

Do not set the throttle axes to issue the command.

 

Set the command to use a pulse on the detent buttons

I haven't used Target before, only Plug and Pray:)

When using Target and move to Idle buttons 29/30 activate (R/Ctl End and R/Alt End) Nothing happens when moving to the off position.

don't bother with Target for A10C , its pointless and a pain , the default profile is perfect 1:1 to the ingame hotas

 

when you move to idle , buttons 29 and 30 should not turn on , they should only turned on when you pass the detent for the off position

 

did you change the detent plastic? its possible it is set too low on the axis now.

Unfortunately same problem. The detent plastic has not been changed since new. But still activates 29/30 at idle and, turns off at the off position

OK then its normal behavior (it changes state from off position)

 

it might not be an issue with the HOTAS after all

did you cold start? if so did you make sure to turn on AC Gen and Inverter?

Does it also happens on missions where you start in the air?

 

if all else fails , i would consider resetting your configs (i think you need to rename your DCS folder in Save Game folder

In the air or on the ground. I am currently using maple flag practice missions. everything is fine until i drop to idle. Then the engines shut down. The idle/off are reversed.

TARGET Script is just must if you want more action per button than you can with "plug n pray"...I think..it's maybe hard to learn but worth of it.

 

Script is better because you can edit with notepad..:). You can do those keyboard data files (.ttm) by exporting plane keyboard commands to html..import them to excel..do few things there..copy paste few time...find replace command several ten times....it's just so easy....:D...ok..it's not easy but I like to do that way.

 

When I get back home I check how I did that throttle idle on my system (I have throttle with DX input so it could be almost same as "plug n pray")..

Seems that in default there is no DirectX button for Engine start...

 

As you can see I use DirectX buttons DX29=IDLELON=Engine Stop Left and DX30=IDLERON=Engine Stop Right.

 

Which you can see at DCS A10C definition

MapKey(&Throttle,IDLELON,DX29);

MapKey(&Throttle,IDLELOFF,PULSE+ Left_engine_start);

MapKey(&Throttle,IDLERON,DX30);

MapKey(&Throttle,IDLEROFF,PULSE+ Right_engine_start);

 

At ttm file I have these lines..

define Left_engine_start R_ALT+HOME

define Right_engine_start R_CTL+HOME

 

You can add for IDLELOFF and IDLERON DirectX buttons too but then you need use TARGET (script or GUI).

 

I hope this helped..:)...and there are many other ways to do that but I did like this...and it's working..

Sounds like the exact opposite of what's supposed to happen. I made two screenshots of my TARGET Device Analyzer; hopefully they're self explanatory. That's how it's supposed to work.

 

If you can confirm that your unit behaves differently, I don't see how this could not be hardware related, ie. you should probably contact TM customer support or return the unit right away and get a replacement from your dealer.

You hit that correctly. At idle 29/30 activate. have sent support ticket to Thrust Master.

 

As you can see mine is reversed

I'm 95% sure your unit is malfunctioning. :(

After numerous emails, and trying to make Thrust Master understand the problem. A friend gave me the "Warthog Throttle Calibration Tool" it cleared all the faults and fixed the Idle/Off problem... NICE
