carter74 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Hello everyone. Now I'm asking for little bit HUD improvements. Bit but important, as I think. Current HUD in DCS look like absolutly non transparent solid image which projects to virtual transparent glass. In most cases this prevent target view, and it forces me to do extra and unnecessary maneuvers in hand to see what hided by HUD lines. Real HUD in real aircraft looks like semi-transparence laser projection image. And I asking developers make HUD with semi-transparency, or with the ability to adjust the transparency. Teo Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Use the "INTEN" rocker on the UFC to lower the intensity of the HUD.
carter74 Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 dunno... is there a Brightness setting in the HUD menu? This feature of digital video recording. Digital video recordings of laser projection image looks like solid image. But not solid image for human eyes. Try to look to EOtech collimator sights for firearms.
effte Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 A real HUD does not obscure things the way our simulated one does. That's from experience with the real thing, not YouTube. The OP is right. However, it's probably not easy to find a way to make the pixels on our screen behave correctly. Just blending in whatever is in the background would not do it IMHO. You're trying to represent a very narrow bright line with a less narrow line. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
Beagle One Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 One usefull improvement would be a posibility to scale the hud down. In most FC3 plans you can onyl the the full HUD if you position your virtual head right above the dashboard...it's worst in the A-10A. At least a scaling option in the menu would help, it does not have to be scalable in game.
carter74 Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Use the "INTEN" rocker on the UFC to lower the intensity of the HUD. Thank you! It helped! I'm not carefully studied the manual. My mistake.

If you do a bit of searching in these fora, you'll find quite a few rather lengthy threads about how a HUD works and why scaling isn't feasible. This thread isn't the best, but it is a start. :) Rgds, /Fred ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
BJH Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 ;)DCS is a simulation game is very good, but very few players, if ED can turn the game into a net to swim, that is good, training simulation pilot potential for countries.
