Using the NVidia Geforce GTX 750ti by Asus.

I've been trying all sorts of different combinations of 3D settings to get the best combination of quality without loosing too much on performance [FPS]. I don't really see that much quality improvement from enabling all the performance enhancing options, but I do see a big hit on the FPS especially when enabling Vsync. I'm not even sure which of the 3D settings available in the NVidia control panel can actually affect DCS.

Also I noticed there is no 'MipMap' option available in the NVidia control panel, is there an equivalent?

Thank you.

Thanks, I went there last week from your posted link. It doesn't go into some of the individual settings as seen below:

Oh! I get it. Good place to start is what U want.

A list from my settings.

Anisotropic filtering 16X

Antialiasing- FXAA On

Antialiasing-Gamma correction Global ON

"" - Mode Enhance ap. settings

"" setting - 32xCAA

"" Transparency -8X Supersampling

Cuda -GPUs -Global ALL

Max. pre-rendered frames - 2 (This helped a lot for me)

Multi-display/mixed GPU- Single display (for my set up)

Power management Mode - Max performance

Shader Cache -Use Global On

Texture filtering Anisotropic sample - ON

Texture filtering-Negative LOD bias - Clamp

"" -Quality - High quality

"" Trilinear optimization- Use Global On

Threaded optimization - ON

What FPS are you getting?

I don't know. I care little about the actual number and just look to ensure I have no stuttering or freezes.

Some can get caught up in the numbers thing. chasing ghost kind of, when a smooth Sim is what we are looking for.

I agree that some do get caught up in only numbers. I have found though that quality alone isn't enough, you do need performance to back it up when it comes to flying the plane. A good example; coming in for a landing with lots of ground objects and it's cloudy with rain. You might have smoothness up until that point but rest assure that you'll want/need lots of performance to get the FPS to control your approach and land.

Caught up in Aweseome

Try to remove all control from NVidia and give it to DCS, as a general rule, implement 'use application settings.' Next, for NVidia I was pleasantly surprised by the 8Q Anti-aliasing. Give it a shot and see what you think. You work hard to have a nice setup, so an extra frame burst here or there is just what the doctor ordered. I don't know about the other settings in this thread, but I found my frames. They say you can't manage what you don't measure, so think about it. I'm not saying to become so fanatical that you can't even enjoy the game, even I eventually turn the FPS counter off, ONCE I'M SURE I'M getting the best bang for my buck. You never know what kind of quirky setting in this game is gonna boost you up, and once your smooth as the other user said, then you can enjoy!

Just like with any science you need a reliable control. So...probably setup a saved mission, where you can verify the various conditions are going to be the same every time you test. This is advice I haven't implemented yet, but I should because it makes sense. Next, do what I said above. Give as much control to the DCS applications settings as you can, and don't use your GPU settings when applicable. I chose performance based settings where applicable. Next modify one thing at a time and then check the FPS, and maybe even write it down, if you really want to know. This is called tuning. Yes tuning is VERY important. If you do it right then you only have to do it once in a while, and you can be assured you have a reliable configuration for the most optimized experience. I have resolution at 3200x1080 at an absolutely stunning 30fps cockpit view mostly. I would keep vertical sync off. Leave in cockpit displays low. The rest is high, + blur, +cockpit shadows. Not sure about TSAA yet, but I think no. skip tree shadows.

Maybe I will take a look at creating a little better information for this, after I finish up these icons I'm working on for the flyables mod I'm helping out with.

Here are the screen caps of some settings working well for me, you can use these as a starting point for your work! http://imgur.com/a/GWEOe

Unless the other users have that same monitor set up I don't think these settings will apply.

I see neither of you guys have your PC specs. in your signatures so it would be difficult to say what these settings would do for all users. I don't run with my graphics as high as yours but I have higher settings, Tree shadows Civ. Traffic all high, MFDs are also on highest, with good FPs. on an older i7 920 no overclock.

In the end I guess it is a matter of "User Defined" as settings are PC specific.

I tried 3200x1080 but as it is over 2 screens the centre of the cockpit is interrupted by the screen frame.

Here's a shot on a single screen, wish I could have 138fps all the time.
