112th_Rossi Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I reinstalled DCS via Steam. I was surprised to find there is no Module Manager when I boot up the game? version is 1.2.11.
EtherealN Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 There is no need for a module manager on Steam, since Steam itself acts to install and update your modules. 112th_Rossi Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Well how do I installed Mig21 when the key won't redeem on Steam? I downloaded the installed via the main site but it just says I don't have the correct DCS version installed.
Ramsay Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 You need to download and install the standalone version of DCS World if your copy of the MiG-21Bis isn't Steam compatible. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440
112th_Rossi Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 It's ok I worked it out. The Mig21 installer can't find the installation but if I point it at the DCSWorld directory it works fine. Thanks
EtherealN Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Unfortunately, in that case you cannot. Key mergers were discontinued earlier this year (June 7th if I recall correctly) since Valve were no longer able to it as it required manual handling. However, note that if you simply want to be able to have DCS World in your Steam games library, you can do this with our distribution through selecting "Add non-Steam game". Overlay and related functions should still be functional (since, afaik, Valve managed to fix the issues related to 64-bit executables). Thanks Note that if you install into the Steam DCS World folder, the module will not automatically update. You would have to reinstall modules manually with each update. It is a workaround, but I would suggest using the non-Steam game option instead. Note that keys purchased on Steam do also work on the distribution from our site. It's just the other way around that does not. Could I take the Steam files, move them to a different folder and add the dcs_updater.exe? If I update the registry keys to point the new installation folder it would effectively be the same as a standalone copy?
EtherealN Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I highly doubt that that would work. I haven't tried it myself (it's not supported to run cross-distro like that), but I would be extremely surprised if that would work. Flagrum Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 This might be of interest: How to activate Non-Steam modules to Steam But do so at your own risk. Mixing Steam and ED-Store installations and/or module is not a supported way to do things - and we all had read more than once already about weired, unexplainable problems with the autoupdater and similar issues. Personally, I would try to avoid this as much as possible ... but *shrug* ...
