Hi...

Although there're lots of monitor in my country, I'm obsessed on Samsung monitors. But, I have to admit to myself, my budget is very limited.

So, in one hand there's a Samsung 23" full HD LED monitor, and in other hand (almost same price) there's a Asus 23" IPS LED monitor. I know what Samsung is doing on TVs or monitors, I admire it, but I have no any idea about what Asus does with monitors...

Which one would you choose, or what would you recommend about a new monitor?

Thank you.

IPS monitors are better. Anyway, in the same range of price, they probably use the same panel.

What is the model number of those monitors. I have some link about the panel (at home).

I am sitting in front of an ASUS PA248Q LED IPS that I have been using for a year and a half. I am very happy with it.

IMHO, IPS monitors are very nice with TIR since you are often looking at the screen at a slight angle. Generally speaking, IPS monitors do a better job of maintaining color over different viewing angles.

Thanks friends.

Actually I know Asus for years, but couldn't trust their monitors. When talking about monitors, Samsung comes into my mind. I don't know if that's a mistake... But Asus monitors' design and finish quality really get my attention.

Demon; I was walking around in some computer-stores and web-sites for just see the prices. Didn't stick on any model so far. My main concern was that Asus promises more quality and features than Samsung in equal price (maybe it's in my country).

I'll try to get model numbers for comparing.

What about Iiyama ? They've been making very good monitors for a long time. I own a ton of those and didn't have any kind of problem whatsoever with any of them.

Wow guys! Very interesting devices they are! :) Thank you.

I think this is firs time I've heard of them. Yea they're being sold in Turkey, but not common. I'll examine them.

Compare to compare.

The Samsung S27B350 has a horrible backlight bleed almost everywhere to the bezels. I have 3 monitors... Same!

The black is the same as the Asus when you choose the "low" black level setting of the Samsung monitor.

The case and the stand are crap plastic. No Vesa!

The buttons are ... too.

The black of the Asus VN279QL is homogeneous.

The backlight bleed is not perceptible. I see no bleed. 3 monitors.

The stand is awesome. But this model is more expensive because of the stand. Vesa.

Thanks!

I may be late but take high res monitor if you can. 1080 is not good vertical res for flight sims where targets are fast And small , i have now 2560x1440 ips And it Really makes spotting targets easier.

The Samsung S27B350 and the Asus VN279QL (portrait).

The big dark shadow you see on the left bottom side of the Asus (close to the Samsung) is me.

I think it's not only the brand but the model too.

More questions: :)

1) My favourite DELL monitors in my country generally have 6 or 8 ms. return time. Is that so important or should I choose 2 or 5 ms. monitors?

2) If I like a monitor to buy I see that its brt. value is 250 cd/m2. Other monitors are 300 cd/m2. I'm using my PC in my room that doesn't see sunlight directly. Is 250 enough for me, or should I choose 300 cd/m2 one?

3) IPS or PLS? :)

Thank you.

Just forget all sellers propaganda like 2.5 or 8millisecond etc,, things.

2ms monitor can be slower than 5ms monitor because those are just marketing things and response time is measured at the manufacture and each manufacture does it "kind of" differently. ;)

Just read this and you be much smarter http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/response_time.htm :)

Btr.value is same thing, can't be sure.

Try to find real review from here http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews.htm or other trusted places :)

Same here, excellent stand, very good panel for the price, very energy efficient, reasonably quick, especially for IPS, over all *very* good bang for your buck.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

...I'd suggest to stick with 24" if you're flying Full HD (1920x1080) resolution.
Merhaba. Thanks. :) Why especially 24 inch? What's wrong with 27"? :)

The refresh time of a 60Hz monitor is 16.6ms...

Manufactures measure their monitors response time a little differently

and it makes it hard to use that as a spec to compare models with.

In the end it is mostly driven by marketing.

Nothing is wrong with the 27" at 1920x1080. But for bigger than 27", some suggest bigger resolution.

Purchase a 27" if you can, of course

Guys.

I want to thank you all again, for your comments, advice and helps.

Last weeks, I had a chance to review my budget (monitor, house demands, baby's stuff, aaaand maybe a new graphics card etc.etc.). So, I've bought a PLS LED monitor, not IPS.

Samsung 27-inch S27D590

I was worried about the differences between 250cd/m2 and 300 cd/m2, but at first run, the first thing what I've done was reducing the brightness 50% :) It has 178 degree view angle - love it. 5 ms. response time looks better than my older Samsung that has 2 ms. response time.

DCS is now really great. New colors, new contrast, very thin design... I fell in love with this monitor and DCS World (again).

Well, thanks all.

Best wishes...
