lkyfly0890 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 How can I know the radar altitude of following image ? THANKS!
Devrim Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 (edited) I think it's the little scale (0 to 45) near speed scale. But don't trust me. :) Edit: I'm wrong. According to manual, there's no radar altimeter on HUD... fitness88 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 (edited) Here you go...I believe under 1000 feet AGL it shows on the HUD. edited: Used to be that way...seems to have been dropped. Edited November 26, 2014 by fitness88
Svend_Dellepude Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 It has been stated by GG (I think) somewhere, that the F-15 doesn't have a radar altimeter. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
Spt Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 There is a part of the problem on my post here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134272 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
lkyfly0890 Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Vertical vector symbol alone , it is easy to be in a dangerous state . Very dangerous flight Aircraft debris generated wipe it off
Svend_Dellepude Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Just look up from the instruments and have a look out the window and place the FPM above the horizon if you don't want to end up buried i a hill. You get used to the low res terrain and eventually learn how close you can get to the ground. Finally you speed is waaaaay too low. lkyfly0890 Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) A proposal for the radar height Currently , low altitude flight can only rely on FPM, real F-15C is that so?The best is in accordance with the real fighters do a module update , or do so in accordance with a FC2. Thus , flying on a flat plateau above 5,000 feet sea level , is more secure ? Done in accordance with the real , or in accordance with FC2 do , we think? My english is not better, thanks . Weta43 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The F-15C seems not to, but the F-15E -1 says the strike eagle has one - perhaps that's where the confusion came from. Cheers.
pauldy Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Welcome to the real Charlie Eagle. Not having Radar Altimeter has little effect on my flying in general. Although sometimes my landings become "less than perfect" as I misjudged the "Sight picture" that I try to maintain in the HUD.. I'd say keep your Velocity Vector above terrain features as much as possible I guess... The F-15 wasn't meant to fly at Low Altitudes anyway... or so I think.. ^^ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
=Mac= Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Welcome to the real Charlie Eagle. ... In case the image does not come through: Edited November 28, 2014 by =Mac= The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...
pauldy Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Ok, sorry if I made a stupid post again.. Just ignore what I said. I guess I've become a feeling know it all dork@$$ Should've kept my own STFU mug by my side.. Sorry again. Edited November 28, 2014 by pauldy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Weta43 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 It's OK - all the people that have never made a stupid post are away today, so they won't notice (actually, I don't think they visit the forums any more). Cheers.
GGTharos Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 You didn't, Eagles fly high. If you run into an Eagle on the perch you're in trouble. They also do low altitude training because the situation may require such a thing, but mainly the advantage is always to be higher and faster. As far as that picture goes, it looks like an F-15 taking off. Difficult not to be low in that situation. Ok, sorry if I made a stupid post again.. Just ignore what I said. I guess I've become a feeling know it all dork@$$ Should've kept my own STFU mug by my side.. Sorry again. TAW_Blaze Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 http://vimeo.com/93790719 Doubt a real pilot needs radar altimeter to fly low & safe in good visibility. No reason to fly a plane low in bad visibility if it's not equipped for it.
pauldy Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I really apologize for my attitude back there.. I was in a not-so-good mood when I made those posts, being stressed from work, deadlines & such.. ..should've flown in DCS first as it's one of my stress relievers... :) Anyway, I have this thought about F-15s not optimized for low altitudes. I remember some documentary about the Eagle having wing buffets or so at low altitudes because of large wings, Is this true? but yeah my memory is short and bad.. so it might be false.. GGTharos Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 All aircraft with low wing-loading (read: Fighters) will have buffeting at low altitudes :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
