simo1000rr Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Hello guys, I have 2 questions for those who are expert in this game. First one I was on the online multiplayer mission last night hosted by the (104 Server ) , I chose NATO side and im flying the F-15C , When I was reading the mission briefing at the end of the briefing it gives you the frequencies of all the Airports in the map ( or some of them Im not sure how many airports are there ). Now my question is how can I use those frequencies when im flying the F-15 or the SU 27 ( those are the only module I have at the moment ) , I searched on the F-15 manual on how to activate the radio but the manual has nothing on that I also searched the forum to no result ( maybe I didn’t use the right words to search the forum ) , I know how to contact the ATC from the ( \) key and then ATC and it gives you a menu to the airports you can contact But if that’s the case then what is the frequencies are listed for? Second question is related to that ( \ ) key menu, When I go to that menu there was AWACS in it so I figured out that we have AWACS in the area and If contacted it should give me help, so in the sub-menu of the AWACS there were some orders such as ( if I remember ) : Bull’s eye-….- Bogey dope- picture – Declare. I have no clue what they are but I know that they give you a location on enemy’s aircraft present in the area . Another thing is when I choose the Bogey dope ( a NATO friend told me its to tell you the location of enemies ) it stated this answer: BRA 160 for 60 at 22000, HOT. Can someone please explain how can I read this , I mean not to read it of course I can read it but I mean to translate it into a usful information . Im new to this game but im really in love with it that I sit almost hours daily practicing and studying the manual but some of the stuff is really not in the manual especially the F15 manual lacks on this point ( Radio communication ). Thank you in advance for taking the time .
Davis0079 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) wow...I could spend hours typing on this subject...so for my sake these answers are as short as possible... 1) in the Flaming Cliffs aircraft you dont do any channel changing...so when in a mission brief it says Kobuleti tower 80.00MHz, 40.80MHz, 262.00MHz. You dont need to care about this and you will never use in in FC3 airframes.....flying the high fidelity "DCS" aircraft you will need to know channels and such. 2) Bullseye is a mark on the map we use so I'm not calling out my exact location on a open radio channel. So before me and you take off we pick a "bullseye", basically just a random spot on the map, and say how far we are from this spot when talking on the radio. This is a standard military tactic used by most all armies and airforces. "Bogey Dope" is what you ask for when asking where the enemy contacts are. "Picture " is when you are asking for a overall radar picture of the area around you and awacs will respond with either "picture clear" or start calling out contacts and which direction they are. "Declare", this is important. When you have a unknown contact locked up with your radar you call awacs and ask them to "Declare" your target. They will respond whether the contact is an enemy or friendly aircraft. 3)BRA 160 for 60 at 22000, HOT. BRA 160 means the contact is southeast(160) of you(bra), if they called bullseye they would say "contact Bullseye 160". The "for 60 at 22,000" means that the contact is 60 miles away at 22,000feet altitude. HOT means they are flying at you, COLD means they are flying away from you, FLANKING means sideways. someone may correct alot of this and I would believe them and their info before mine, good luck. Edited November 30, 2014 by Davis0079 It only takes two things to fly, Airspeed and Money.
simo1000rr Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Thank you very much for the quick reply ( Davis0079 ) I really appreciate it , Your answer cleared a lot if issues to me . But I just want to clarify something, you said the bearing 160 degree is the southeast. Is that based on that the North = 0 degree? And if I want to turn toward that Bearing would I point my Heading on the 16 mark ( I mean by the Heading is the scale that appears on the top of your HUD screen ) Thank you very much in advance.

AFAIK it means that the contact is at 160 degrees from your current heading. IE you have to turn 160 degrees (clockwise) from your current heading to get on an intercept course. (Someone please correct me if Im wrong) Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

IE you have to turn 160 degrees (clockwise) from your current heading to get on an intercept course. (Someone please correct me if Im wrong) In a BRAA (Bearing Range Altitude Aspect) call the bearing is magnetic bearing from your airplane. So that "160" means fly a magnetic heading of 160 and you'll be pointing straight at them.
simo1000rr Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 Thank you very much guys, you are really a very helpful community, With you answers above and the help of the tutorials from Flankertraining.com website alot of the issues had been cleared out. Thank you
Hadwell Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) ok it says Contact bearing 170 for 20, if its voice is in russian, its saying you wanna head south on a heading of 170 and its 20km away from you. if its voice is in english, its saying you wanna head south on a heading of 170 and its 20nm away from you. dope is just the closest target, picture just lists off all the groups of targets in the area... and keep in mind, the awacs can't see things hiding low behind hills and mountains, so it doesn't list everything, just what it can see... Ok lets say the AWACS is not present or was shot down , is it possible to share my radar information or what i see on radar to other players or fellow fighter .
Hadwell Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 TWS2 is supposed to do that, not sure if it does or not, i think the only plane with TWS2 is the mig-29... srky Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Simo, you are talking about datalink between fighters, I don't think the dcs F-15 has such capability. It has only recently been added to su-27 because in RL sukhoi uses it and, for now, it only works in single player. So... you need to be on TS with other players and learn to communicate what you see on your radar. Look for "Brevity Code" on internet, it will bring you up to speed on fighter pilot lingo
