Shahdoh Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Trying to setup a server on a computer that I have hosted out on before, but now, the clients are getting the message: "Cannot Connect" They can see they server hosted. Windows Firewall is turned off completely. Ports 10308 and 10309 are forwarded in the Router and there is no other firewalls installed. I did a completely fresh install of DCS, no mods added. Server connection speed is setup as LAN. I even went into the Network.cfg and removed the integrity checks. All this and clients outside my local network get "Cannot Connect". Clients connecting from the lan connect just fine. What am I missing/forgetting? Thanks for the help.
104th_Maverick Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Are they all on the same version as the server? I'm assuming so. Public server check box checked? Normally if its a port issue they will not even see the server in the list, so those are obviously set up fine. You seem to have done everything Shahdoh... the only thing left that I can think of is they are running a different version than the server. Shahdoh Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) Thanks, yes, Public is checked and as I just did a fresh install off a fresh download, versions are current. I have been at a loss on this one. Another computer on my network can host just fine, but is my sons computer that he is on the most, so I need to move it to another and its just not working. Another thing that is different is that its "Cannot Connect" as opposed to "Connection Interrupted". Makes it look like an integrity check. Nothing at all shows up in any DCS logs on either the server OR the client. Edited November 30, 2014 by Shahdoh
Blooze Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 When you did a fresh install did you delete the old saved games DCS folder and build a new one? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
104th_Maverick Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Totally stumped mate.... it should work :( That's why I thought it might be version related because of 'Cannot Connect' rather than 'Connection Interrupted' I'll ask around and get some other to have a look and see what they think. Frostie Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 It seems like you've already done it but make sure you delete network.cfg file in C:\Users\[your name]\Saved Games\DCS\Config. Then let the sim build a new one when you rehost, don't adjust it. "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. piXel496 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) I suspect the routing (wild guessing host pc <--> internet udp failure?), since your lan works. Can your host-pc connect to a non-LAN dcs server? Edited December 1, 2014 by piXel496 PC network refresh. ipconfig \flushdns or ipconfig \renew in CMD doesn't do harm and who knows.. old stuff I made
Shahdoh Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Thanks Frostie, I have removed the network.cfg file, let it rebuild with a new one and still "Can't connect" for clients outside the lan. Pixel, yes, that computer can successfully connect to other DCS servers on the internet just fine. Would think if it was a routing issue, the server would not be seen at all, but am open to ideas as to what to look for to correct. I am near the point of doing a fresh install of Windows on the machine.
Blooze Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Anything HERE that may be of value? Have you tried hosting other more common missions to rule out the possibility that the problem is mission specific? Edited December 1, 2014 by Blooze [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shahdoh Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Ok, previous attempts to release/renew the IP on the server computer, router kept reassigning the same IP. So, I released the IP off of multiple computers on my lan and then rebooted the router. New IP's were assigned to the computers so I reset the routing for the new IP and...... YEAH! It is now working! Thanks all for the help, confirmed I had gotten basically all correct, but for some reason, previous IP had some sort of block going on that the new IP fixed. /Salute
