Lately the new modules are taking longer to be released in steam compared to Website Release. Why it can't be released the same day/week like the official page?

Can website release (bought on website) be used on steam dcs client?

Yes it can, just download the module and install into your Steam DCS folder.

I did this for the Dora, and it worked perfectly.

E: And still works, but it has to be updated manually

It's a known fact that the keys from the DCS Store can't be used on Steam anymore. I am sure there a workarounds but that is at the users own risk.

There are, but I have to say I don't recommend it.

I actually removed my Steam installation of DCS yesterday and downloaded the standalone client from the website to get access to the Open Beta client and module manager, because the Steam version doesn't have these.

The only workaround that I know that has zero risk to the user is to install the game client from the eagle dynamics website and transfer your steam keys into non-steam keys, as shown here

I must say you're wrong. And as far i know, it's even better update the DCS World Beta from Steam because it changes you're actual DCS World stable version for the Beta Version downloading only the files you need.

How to change DCS World to Beta in steam?

First you go to your library and locate DCS World, right click on it and go to properties

Then you go to Betas and change to NONE to Open Beta

As you may note, i have a lot of games in Steam, so maybe for others it's ok to buy it from website, but i prefeer to have everything in to Steam... As i already do: 3a888c002f29e2b6cd2d330a6cb13755.png

That's cool, didn't know that. But does it give you access to the module manager?

I don't know, does that allow you to install the Open Beta K-4?

Well, the plane it's in my DCS, i can put some and fight against them in the editor, but i can't pilot it because it's not released on steam "for some reasons i don't know". So the Module Manager it's the picture i shown before.

I supoose this is one of the DCS steam disadvantages, we don't have the modules the first day and i would like to know why it takes so long, as the Mig-21Bis did (3 weeks before Website release).

It is more than possible to install BF-109K4 into the Steam version of DCS. I spent about 10 minutes tinkering, and got it working flawlessly, including enabling Module Manager on the STEAM version of DCS. If you would like to do so, add me on Steam at http://steamcommunity.com/id/fennecfoxes , and I will personally assist you in installing this beautiful bird. The only things you need is to legally own it, and the knowledge of how to edit a text file.

Well guys, i really want the game in Steam bought in steam. It's more comfortable for me. I just don't understand why the DLC's take that long to get in steam. This time the Bf-109 K4 it's even in the chart of DLC's...

Why wait when you don't have to, though? I currently own all modules, half are ED Store, and half are Steam. Updating's a breeze: You don't need to do much extra that Steam doesn't do, it's literally running a single .exe, and pressing close when it downloads one file. The only weird thing to do is enabling module manager, and even then, that's just for BF-109K4 since the installer files aren't available yet. There is almost zero "big" downsides to doing it this way.

Edit: Wow, now MultiQuote works.

Well, i have my reasons, if you want we can speak in private about it. The thing it's that it's unfair for steam users to get the game later. Add me if you want to talk about it http://steamcommunity.com/id/Llucmk/

Steam takes 30-40%(or more) of the profits. I prefer that those 40% should go to the hard working guys at ED and Leatherneck, VEAO, Belsimtek, Aviodev, Razbam, Coretex...

Don't use steam, give more support to the devs. :)

If they achieve another mutual accord with steam about make compatible the keys from boths sites, i'll be glad to buy things from website as i started with the P-51D. Right now i have about 150+ games in Steam, some in origin. I have even the 3 IL-2 on Steam... I don't want to spare things, i think Steam client it's awesome, it has good things, it's "social", and it has an awesome autoupdater... It has In-Home Streaming and Yesterday they added the new feature (Broadcastin) that you don't have to download nothing like 3rd programms to record and stream to twitch.tv.

http://steamcommunity.com/updates/broadcasting

You can view what you're friends are viewing with 1 click. It has cheap deals (website does too) and one hundred more things...

For me, steam is an advantage, some people think that steam sucks, well, i like it a lot and i think that having all your games on the same platform it's easy and comfortable.

It means that i don't like support ED? Of course not, i bought almost every module, some from website before Key compatibility, but now that i have it on steam, i prefer to stay here.

Anyway, any developer or staff answered my question. ¿When is going to be released?

Posted (edited)

I'm not accusing you of not supporting ED, that's why I said buying from the ED store gives more support :).

I have used Steam since 2004, I know it's a good platform and it's my primary chat software. But remember we have only two combat flightsim studios who do propeller aircraft, and ED are only doing WWII because of someone else's failed kickstarter.

This is a tiny genre with few customers, and the devs have very limited budgets as it is.

3 days past and Bf-109 it's even without date in Steam... ED, have you forgot about us?

Come on... We know you have the DLC already in... 2f1f11b7e4ee70885dabc44eb749b4e4.png
