Hello i was playing su27 campaign and i was trying to shoot down some f15s using the head mounted tracking to lock on to planes, after locking on the missles just fire straight, idk if its a bug or not the right missle, the normal tracking works fine, but i wasted half my missles trying to use the head tracking cuz its awesome

When you switch to hms mode it default to optical tracking, so if you fire a radar guided missile.... you must put the radar on every time

another possible reason, you fired a medium range missile that have different caractéristiques (heavier less manoeuvrable) than the r73 archer AA11 which is designed specifically for high off boresight short distance manoeuvers.

Designed for that purpose it is lighter (less fuel) and less slick that is more dragy but it can pull much more g's.

R27ET for exemple is designed to kill at 15 to 50 kms, so it is designed to flight straight initially and fast when a firing solution has been obtained usually at the border of the enveloppe. The r73 turn and accelerate at the same time, if you were firing medium range missile high off boresight like an r73 it would be 3times more heavy, it's already 350 kg each, that is 2 missiles weight 1 small car. you are throwing literally car against planes in the air.... voila... the basic reasons...
