Hello -

 

What happens when multiple players try to start a mission, taking off from the same runway at the same time?

 

Do the players only appear in their aircraft cockpits one at a time, after each has cleared the runway? And until that time, they can join the game only as spectators? How does it work?

In multiplayer you can only start on the taxiway. Some bases will hold 16 players spawning at one time.

 

Interesting... You spawn on the ramp even if the takeoff waypoint is a "Runway" waypoint? With engines off I presume?

 

What happens if the number of slots (e.g. 16) is exceeded (e.g. by AI)? The 17th player has to wait, or spawns "on top", as on Kuznetsov?

 

What happens when you spawn on top? Explosion, or collisions are temporarily disabled?

It doesn't seem to be constant, but I've seen missions where people spawned in on the edge of the runway and immediately exploded. I think that is because of airfields being over the limit of planes.

 

All client spawning is on the ramp with engines off. (Except for the above example or airstarts)

 

33s, if they are careful, can slowly move out of the space taken by the other plane(s).

In 1.02 spawning on the Kuz at the same time resulted in both planes experiencing a collision and both pilots having to eject in order to "recover".

 

I have found this to be the case also in FC, except for the other night, when I knocked up a quick flight for 3 of us to muck around with Carrier landings and we happily spawned ontop of each other sometimes 3 deep and took off, in turns, to engage in some close quarter combat off the bow of the Carrier. It was quite bizarre as there were no problems spawning inside of each other and separation on laun ch was quite amuzing as you tried to get a guns kill before you were gear up.

 

Subsequent attempts have seen planes and pilots colliding on deck.

 

Oh well it was fun whilst it lasted.

Actually you CAN start on the runway in multiplayer if there's only one client flight per airfield. Probably extremely useful.
