capttrob Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Hi everyone... I asked this over at CH hangar but havent received a response yet... hopefully some of you may be able to shed some light on the issue... its kind of acting like the TIR bug... here is what i posted at the CH Hangar.. "I asked this question on another thread, but it seemed to get buried and dont know if anyone was able to read it.... I made a keyboard map for LOMAC Flaming Cliffs. Sometimes I modify it with little tweaks here and there. The problem im having is everytime i modify one input, another input fails to respond in LOMAC-FC. For example, i made the up switch on the FS 8-way hat the center reset for TIR by mapping it to a keystroke. I dont modify anything else. I save it, download it to windows. When i start the game, the new center input i created works fine, but i'll lose canopy open/close... or air brake toggle.. or gear... or flaps... etc, which were never touched.. I have to exit LOMAC-FC and re-download the map again... sometimes doing this a few times, to get it to work. Another example... I mapped my pinky button to Push to talk for Teamspeak. Then i lost canopy toggle... had to exit.. re-download... and it works again... It always seems to be canopy and/or airbrake. But mostly canopy. I've also lost my radar switches on occassion. I never change anything with these inputs, but they seem to lose memory when i modify other inputs. It bizarre... Any help would be appreciated... i always sweat the fact when i want to modify one or two inputs knowing i'll have to save.. download.. test all the buttons and switches... re-test... exit game... re-save... re-download.. re-test.. exit again... well.. you get the idea... It would be nice to just save once and everything works.. any ideas?"
snomhf Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Hi Capttrob, I'm pretty good with the CM. Nothing comes to mind as to your problem but I do have a couple of questions/suggestions. Are you scripting anything or just assigning commands to the devices themselves? Are you combining your devices or keeping them separate? Lomac works fine with separate devices so I recommend that. One thing I do when I get things in a weird state is to create a brand new profile map and begin to copy things over from my old one one command at a time until I discover the problem. Do you use the "Test Key" feature in CM? That is a must. With each assignment you make, you should always do a "Test Key" to make sure it works. Do you use CM buttons? That's a real stealthy part of the profile IMO and a great place for screw-ups. I have begun to use %DEFINEs in my scripts where each of the CM buttons I assign are given labels in the script. This helps you keep track of them. Example: %DEFINE ToggleCanopy CMS.B13 Do you use a CMC file or do you enter the commands directly? If you use a CMC, print it out and check it against the Lomac command summary to make sure it's right. You might try printing out your map in the CMCC utility and see if anything looks strange there. That's about all I can think of. Good luck. If you want to PM me your profile I'll be glad to take a look at it. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4
capttrob Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Thanks for the reply snomhf, Yeah, they are mapped together. They are alll mapped with keyboard strokes as defined in the keyboard commands page in LockOn. I dont know how to use scripting yet. My profile can be downloaded from CH hangar here.... http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3017 That is like my 2nd or 3rd draft. Im now on my 6th or 7th, but the canopy and airbrake are the same. The only diferences from that profile is the mouse is now mapped to the ministick and added support for TIR and TS PTT as noted above. I also added some ground pounder commands (7, o.. etc) in yellow mode on the 4 way hat on the side of the Fighterstick. Is there a way i can put them into direct mode without having to remap all the commands and create a new profile? I suppose another thing i can try is to save the profile under a different name when i make small tweaks, instead of overwriting the previous profile. I see Revvin has replied to my thread over at the Hangar, so im gonna check that out now... Thanks for the reply!
snomhf Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 The CH guys are very helpful. If they are willing to look at your profile then by all means... I am happy to do the same. PM your map to me that doesn't work. That will help me the most. Yes, I suggest making a backup of a working profile before making a new change. That will help you isolate problems. I recommend you look for lomac maps (there are several really good ones around) and load them up as you work on yours. You can switch back and forth between yours and theirs as much as you want. I am currently working on a pretty complex Falcon4 map and I have four maps from other people that I can load up and study. That's the best way to learn. I strongly suggest you use mapped mode and learn to script. I am certain that it will not be long before you want to do something that cannot be done without scripting, especially with a jet sim. Might as well bite the bullet early on. You're a smart guy, you can handle it! :) Let me know how I can help. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4
snomhf Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Not to muddy the water too much here but I have found a much better technique to doing a profile map than using Modes. See my posting on "Modless profiles" here: http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3123 The technique works very well and it's amazing how intuitive it becomes. ---------- Click here for details ---------- Abit AV8 MB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5 GB DDR, GeForce 6600GT/256MB AGP, CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals/Throttle Quad/DT225 Trackball, TIR4
capttrob Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Thanks for the response guys.... The map works great... i love it. However, it does take a few downloads to get all buttons and switches working properly when i modify one or two inputs. Im also thinking maybe i need ot move controllers to different ports. Right now mt FS and PT are on a PCI expansion card and my pedals are on a mainboard USB. I tried to move them all to a mainboard usb before, but my profile doesnt recognize it. I think when you create a profile, it maps it to a specific port. If there is anyway to modify a config file to switch ports. That may work in itself. As for scripting? It does look pretty straight forward, but after learning LOFC, CH profiles (never used profiles before), TIR profiles, IL2, and building a gaming pc all in about a months time.. i getting kinda burnt... lol I'll learn scripting one of these days, just not ready to dive in just yet. But i will definitely download your profile Ice as a tutorial and guide for when im ready.. thanks!

But no way am i ready to dive into that stuff just yet. :icon_jook Oh almost forgot. The profile is pure keyboard commands from the default LOFC commands. All default joystick button commands have been deleted in LOFC. Can i PM an attachment? Let me fire up the ol pc.. and i'll send you the profile....
capttrob Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Moved to CH Hangar for consolidation.... http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=3130&st=0&do=findComment&comment=20363 profile is there as well for download... Thanks everyone for your help! Buy yourself a beer and pretend its from me....:icon_jook
