Mike Busutil Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I want to try setting up a private game tonight with a friend so I can teach him a few things. It makes it a lot more difficult doing this when we are in a public server and we loose connection or get strafed during startup etc... What will be required for me to have a successful private session online? I have created a mission and set the aircraft skill level to "Client", sign into multiplayer, select new server, create a server name, select public, create a password and then select the mission I created and start, and give my friend my password to sign in. Am I on the right track or am I missing something? Will a wireless network connection work for this or am I required to use a LAN? Thank you for any helpful info. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
dooom Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 nope you got it right. wireless for hosting is not such a great idea though... you will also want to ensure your proper ports are open in your router. Mike Busutil Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Okay, I have more questions. When I get into my router to open a port ("Port forwarding"), I get this window. I used my CMD prompt to see my Ip address, format is set to both (TDC/UDP) but I'm not sure what I need to use for the Inbound port & local port. Thanks for any help. txmtb Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The port should be 10308, and the IP is the one on the PC hosting the game. So: Description = DCS World Inbound Port = 10308 to 10308 Format = Both Private IP address = your computers IP, usually 192.168.1.x or similar. Open a windows command prompt and type ipconfig, check the address on your adapter. Local port = 10308 to 10308 Hopefully that will get you set up. fixen Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Make sure your pc has a Static ip though. Otherwise when your pc requests its ip adress from the router it may get another one assigned wich isn't the forwarded one.
Mrgud Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 When I fly with my friends, we use Team Viewer VPN (Virtual Private Network) to make a connection because when we connect trough DCS Multiplayer, all of us expirience lagging problems.
Mike Busutil Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Is the inbound port and local port always set to 10308? Or is that computer specific? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
txmtb Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 That's the port that DCS uses, so it stays the same. Win 10 64 Pro, MSI Z390 I7-9700K @5ghz Kraken Z63, 32Gb Corsair Dominator, MSI RTX-2070, 1TB NVME 2TB SSD's, TM Warthog, Pro Rudders, OpenTrack w/ IR Clip
