I'm betting there are already Posts and/or Threads that show some people's HOTAS configurations for the Su-25 like there are for other Mods/Aircraft, but I can't seem to find them.

I don't have much luck searching these forums for information for a few reasons (which aren't important to share here and now). But If nothing else, I'd appreciate if someone could please direct me to the appropriate Thread/Post where I can find the info I'm looking for ?

Like all other aircraft/mods I have, I ultimately want to create my own custom profile(s) but I do like to keep them Close if not Identical to the Real Cockpit Stick/Throttle Setup. However, seeing what others have done might help me Optimize my Config .. and much faster.

More importantly, I am trying to figure out what the majority of people do RE: Throttle(s).

Obviously the Frogfoot has 2 Throttle Levers ... 1 for each engine.

But is there any real advantage to having a Split Throttle HOTAS setup for this Simplified Cockpit etc ? Or do most just use 1 Fixed Throttle to run both engines ... especially due to the Simplified Cockpit ?

Thanks in Advance

PS> I have gone through the Frogfoot Manual ... a few times and I don't see even a picture of the Throttle or Stick let alone a description of their "buttons" !

Super wrong forum to post this question in. Regardless, split throttles don't really offer much in DCS I find. In BoS and RoF it can make a real difference, but here it's just meh. As for a realistic stick setup, I honestly couldn't tell you. There are basically 4 HOTAS setups out there and none of them look anything like what the Russians use. The closest stick is the Cobra which is only sold in Europe. In terms of throttles, there is nothing as far as I know.

In any case, the standard configuration is as follows:

1) TDC: Hat on stick

2) Trigger: fire weapons

Beyond that I couldn't tell you. I can tell you for the Ka-50 as that actually lists what is on the cyclic and collective. For it, the TDC gate size and camera zoom are on the collective. It also has the lock button I think. The cyclic stick has hardpoint selection, in addition to the TDC hat and firing buttons. Also on the cyclic are the search light controls in the form of another hat. I'd assume trim controls take that slot on the Su-25's. US planes put trim on the stick hat as well typically.

Edit: Almost forgot, my actual setup on my X-55 is as follows. I should point out that I try to make my setups consistent across planes and even across sims. So each hat/button/switch does basically the same thing or a related function regardless of what it is. My Ka-50 setup is remarkably similar to my Fokker Dr.I setup. :P

Stick:

POV hat: TDC

Bottom right hat: left/right weapon selection cycle + launch over-ride, up/down for flaps

top right hat: Elevator + aileron trim (rudder instead for prop planes)

top thumb button: center TrackIR

Normal thumb button: secondary fire (bombs, rockets, missiles)

Trigger: Primary fire (guns or combined, depending on plane)

Index finger button on right side: TS3 PTT

Pinky button: brakes

Pinky lever: air brakes

Throttle lever:

Index finger: lock

Middle finger: unlock

Pinky rocker: Air to air and Air to ground modes

Top hat: up/down for zoom, left/right for target gate size

Bottom hat: TV/FLIR/ELINT/Laser toggles

Bottom rotary: zoom

Top rotary: reserved for brakes, not used on Su-25T

Bottom rotary button: Countermeasures

Top rotary button: Reserved for HMS, not used on Su-25T

Throttle fire button: Select cannon

Throttle base:

Switches: unused with Su-25T, used for special functions in other planes (ie AP in Ka-50, radar in MiG-21).

Hi Maj_Death and thanks for your reply.

First off, I'm not surprised this wasn't the best place to post my question, but you didn't suggest where I should have posted. I only posted here because the Su-25 is a Belsimtec Mod (isn't it ?).

I appreciate you sharing your setup.

Like you, I also prefer to make my Hotas setups to be as consistent across the board as much as possible (for all my Mods).

That said, I like the way you have set up your Rhino for this aircraft. It sounds like a logical way to do it.

And like you said, unlike the Ka-50 and several other aircraft/mods, this one does NOT "actually list what is on the cyclic and collective" in the manual (for either the Su-25 OR the Trainer).

PS> If you know of a more appropriate place for me to have posted this question/thread, I'd be happy to hear it.

Thanks again and have a great day.

No problem. And the places it belongs are either in the general input/output section in the hardware category or in the flaming Cliffs 3 section. The FC3 planes were all made by the internal ED team. You can see which third party is responsible for what by looking at the list of sub forums they have. BST here has the UH-1, Mi-8, F-86 and upcoming MiG-15. Others are also in progress, but are too far off to have their own sub forum at this time.

Anyways, have fun with the froggy. :)

I personally prefer to keep all of my aircraft configured more or less the same - I always use the same hat switch for TDC, same buttons for lock, fire, change weapons etc regardless of what I jump into.

A lot of them are similar in real life as it is, but it means, that you can switch from aircraft fairly quickly without have to relearn the major functions.

I based them off the Warthog A-10C, since that's the plane I started with, and have that hotas. But I guess it doesn't really matter with plane you use as a base.
