sissypilot Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Multiple sources proved on discussion page that ASP is not implemented correctly especially in A-A mode. Edited March 12, 2015 by Cobra847
PiedDroit Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Someone please close this, there is already at least 3 threads on the subject. EDIT: I don't even know what's the truth about it. Devs are fully aware of the discussion, let them work in peace now (and use the search function to locate the threads). Edited February 22, 2015 by PiedDroit
sissypilot Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 There is not single thread on the issue in the bugs and problems section.
PiedDroit Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 There is not single thread on the issue in the bugs and problems section. One of them is in the "Weapons" subsection: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132696 here is another one (that was moderated a short time ago): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=139165 I believe if you search for "ASP" in the whole LN forum you should find another one, I don't remember where it is. This point has been discussed for a while now and there is not much new things to be brought to the devs attention now. I'm confident they will address this the best way possible.
sissypilot Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Thanks. I thought ASP is avionics not weapon :) I see endless debate. Did anyone come to a solution? Because I think ASP is a mess as it is.
PiedDroit Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Yeah it's avionics, but... related to weapons as well so neither is wrong I guess. If something is a mess, but "as per aircraft", well, it's not a mess anymore :D. To summarize, some people came with sources saying that ASP should be slaved to the radar in certain modes (I won't give details I leave the reading up to you). Current LN position is that the current implementation is correct. Since there was a lot of fuss about it I suppose they will come up with something - or maybe not. Either way, it's counter productive to start that debate again now.
sissypilot Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Good. How do you know LN position? Even their manual says it should on page 132. They don't agree with themselves? :) That is indeed a fruitless debate...

Art-J Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Well, one way or another, the issue has been noted by devs. If we don't have any new tech documentation about sight and the radar, let's just wait and see what next patch or two will bring. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
sissypilot Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 All I know is that I set a tanker steady in front of me, lock on it some 1km away and try to shoot at it with guns the bursts fall short consequently. The GS23 is a capable gun with a range of 2km I highly doubt that they did not pair it with a capable ASP as predecessors to the Bis fighter were able to range properly. Anyway lets see what they come up with....
