Prophet Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Well I finally upgraded. Got the 4820K overclocked to 4.8GHz with ease. Changed the 970 BIOS and got it clocked to something. I remember struggling before with FPS. It wasn't unplayable, but it was far from smooth. Usually around 30-45 FPS. I never considered upgrading much because LOMAC 2.0 and on has never really performed all that great. It was considered CPU intensive and there has not been much improvement in single core performance. Man was I wrong. 100 FPS on all high settings. Now I got to fix my Cougar and see what is going on in the servers.
BitMaster Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Your "old" i7-920 usually overclocks to 4.8 GHz+ on a decent mobo. It even clocks up to 3.4-3-6 witch stock Intel cooler. You might wanna keep it and rethink the "to the bin" :) Bit Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
