voodoo.child Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) I live in Tucson, not far from Davis-Monthan, and apparently they are doing their Heritage Flight Training right now... Saw 2 F-86 Sabres flying in formation with an F-22... having bought (and loving) the F-86 module for DCS I was pretty stoked to see that. It's not open to the public, so I can't go on base and get up close to them, but I certainly have enjoyed seeing them (and others) in the air. I will try to snap some photos next time they fly by. P-51's too (And I have that module as well... actually I have a few ;) ) So happy days in Tucson for aviation geeks... Been meaning to register here, and thought that was a cool enough thing to see that others here would appreciate it. Now, I need to fire up DCS and take a Sabre up... if you'll excuse me.. (Link of what's going on for those interested... hmmm how can I fake being a member of the press to get out there Monday...) http://www.dm.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123338129 Edited February 28, 2015 by voodoo.child
Chief1942 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Was in Fountain Hills two days ago and watched a B-25 Mitchel fly over. I knew there must be an air show in the making somewhere nearby. Vampyre Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 The Navy did the same thing for their heritage flights in Lemoore back in 2012. I got to get a really good look at a Wildcat, Buckeye and my personal favorite the F4U Corsair while they were parked on VFA-122's line as well as see them fly their formations. Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills. voodoo.child Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Cool to see, I just wish the public could check it out... Hell, I enjoy watching the constant over flights of A-10's out here. But think I might grab a book, set up my hammock somewhere with decent visibility and get some pics of them flying for my fellow air geeks here. I know _I_ don't see Sabres in the air often... well, not outside of DCS anyway...
algerad3 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I used to live on the other side of D.M back in the days (late 60's earl 70's) They would always fly those jets over town and rattle the windows when the went supersonic. My babysitter's house was at the gates of the old graveyard and I would spend hours staring at all of the Hueys sitting there. Watching f-86's fly over would really take me back.
