Hiya!

Didn't fly the Pony for a long time, but have now started again due to my current interest in the Korean war stuff. And I'm glad I did, because this is a _seriously_ cool bird indeed - the Cadillac of the skies! Some (newfound) impressions:

* The full tank CoG shift is very notable. I've found that even with just 39% gas and a full gun loadout, one really needs the 2-3 clicks nose down TO trim (as per the POH) instead of neutral. Ignore that, and she literally jumps into the air and will then stall unless you take corrective action immediately!

* I've noticed that even a fully-loaded aircraft (i.e. 39% gas, 90% ammo, 4 HVARs and 2 AN-64s) will take off comfortably with just 3000 RPM / 45-50 MAP or thereabouts. The TO run will take a while, of course, but does that really matter with the longish runways we have? The less power you use, the more time you have to react if things go haywire.

And that's about it so far. A stunning babe, this Missy Mussie of ours! See you in the skies guys 8)

Just a thought, but isn't 67%+ fuel the tipping point for when fuel is actually put into the rear tank?

I'm surprised you're having to trim nose down so much with that little fuel.

I really enjoy reading into like this!!! Having a forum to discus helping others

is something that is just not used enough.

Setting up Track IR5 has been a problem for me

and youtube has only one video for setting up.

There are so many variables to learn and discover.

I now switch my tanks every 10 minutes while flying the stang and its helps

to balance out the plane.

Well I'm not actually _having_ to do so, but find it all easier if I do. And this is according to at least one version of the RL POH too - which, as I remember it, recommends trimming nose down even after a _really_ low amount of fuel loaded - 45 lbs or so comes to mind, unless I disremember.

Anyway, it's by no means necessary to do so, I've just found that it helps :) Others may disagree, and nothing wrong with that either. S! ye buggers.

Anyway, this birdie kind of epitomizes what's 40s-50s cool was about, too (or at least one part of it) and that _does_ count for geezers like myself who never lived the times 8) What a babee indeed - the Cadillac of the skies!

Yah, pop culture in a way, and I'm not denying that one bit. But what the hell is wrong with that?

CTGuy1955 - I switch tanks, too. Especially when on a decently long trip to a combat zone and I want to set trim and forget 'er for a bit.

Well, the Mk. IX Spitty looks gorgeous too. So I'd say it's a tie really ;)
