4c Hajduk Veljko Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 If I try to set fixed gun-pod depression angle I press “Ctrl - +” or “Ctrl - -“. Well at the same time the target size is changing? How can I set gun-pod depression angle without changing the target size? Also, regardless of distance to target, the gun-pods (if set at fixed depression angle) will fire. They should fire only when target is in range right? Force_Feedback Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 It's ALT+ -/+ Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 It's ALT+ -/+ALT - -/+ does not do anything for depression angle. Also, SHIFT - -/= will fine tune depressio angle but will also increase the target size. Weta43 Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 You could try checking your key mapping & make these functions have different key combinations (though I'm sure mine are default & they seem to be different - as for Force_Feedback ALT & -/= change my designator box size, not shift. Cheers.
Red Star Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Both keypresses will depress the gunpods but ensure that you have the gunpods only selected. Sounds like either you are leaving the ShKval on or you have the internal cannons selected as well as the gunpod.

And I don't want that to be happening. All I want is to set the gun-pod depression angle (to fixed angle) without changign the target designator box size. How do I do that? Red Star Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Just gave it a go instead of relying on memory. Silly to trust memory. :surrender: I was able to lock a target up with the ShKval then by using Alt - and Alt + (which are mapped to my joystick) I was able to depress the gunpods manually. It didn't effect the target box when only gunpods were selected. I hate to press the issue again but are you sure you are selecting only the gunpods and not the gunpods with internal cannon.
Ironhand Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 =4c= Hajduk Veljko, As Red Star says, make sure that the centerline canon is not selected along with the gunpods. If all are selected, you will see BCE in the lower left corner of the HUD and the gun pipper will jump back up to the single canon position (instead of the lower gunpod position). And you will experience the problem you have been experiencing. And for strafing a column of vehicles, etc, using the gunpods without the Shkval works well. Pres “7” for ground mode, “C” for cannons, “CTRL SPACE” to select pods „ПО 4“. And before all of that, I also clicked on DEFAULT for the key mapping. “ALT = “ and “ALT -“ now adjusts depression angle, however at the same time the target size box is changing as well. I wonder, in options, on your LO FC, what functions are assigned to “ALT =” and “ALT –“? On my LO FC, these two keystrokes are (by default) assigned to “Increase/Decrease Target Specified Size”. Is ShkVal not to be used with fixed depression angle on gun pods? Also, I have no problem with automatic depression angle function. It works perfect. It is fixed (depression angle) that I can not make work with ShkVal. Ironhand Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Rich, Also, I have no problem with automatic depression angle function. It works perfect. It is fixed (depression angle) that I can not make work with ShkVal. It's been a long and tiring weekend, so forgive me for being both confused and confusing. If you are going to use both the Shkval and manual depression and want to lock your target as well, then lock the target first. After that switch to gunpods. Otherwise, yes, you will both increase/decrease the size of the target box as you use the keys to raise or lower the gunpod depression angle. But I guess it depends on what your target is. If it's a moving target (ground vehicle, ship, etc) then perhaps you'll want to lock it. If it's a stationary target, then you don't have to lock and the size of the target box is moot, anyway. Just ground stabilize and slew the target box--whatever size it is--over the target and leave it there. What you are going to do in either case is fly the gunpod pipper over the top of the Shkval aiming pipper (either manually or with the autopilot) and shoot. Why are you saying this? Is ShkVal not to be used with fixed depression angle on gun pods? You can use Shkval but the reason to use it is to get an earlier fix on the target's location. Then either with the autopilot or manually, start lining up from farther out. I need to get some sleep now but, if I have time before leaving for work in the AM, I'll throw together a short track or video for you. I might have completely missunderstood what you're saying, but - if you set the target designator to a particular size then move the designated point toward and away from the plane, the box will appear to change size, but it's not really, just that as it gets further way a 15m box looks smaller on the screen than it did when it was closer Cheers.
