Rongor Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I have the 100- and the 10-kHz dial. But how to tune to 129 kHz? The 3rd little dial only features a scale starting at -10 to +20. That won't be what I am looking for, right?
electro_monkey Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Tune 130 kHz, set "the 3rd little dial" to -1 and you'll get 129 kHhz:) 1 i5-9600K / RTX 2060 / 32 GB DDR4-3200 CL16 / Win10 x64 / Cobra M5 (BRD)+ Gametrix ECS / Opentrack
lmp Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 ... or the other way around, 120 on the digital display and +9 on the little dial. Both ways should work.
lmp Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Just remembered another thing. ARK-9 only covers the 150 - 1300kHz frequency range. So even though you can dial in a lower frequency, you won't actually get a signal. But if you wanted to tune, say, 156kHz (which is the outer Senaki beacon, 129kHz being the inner one), you would follow the procedure described above. Either 150 or 160 on the digital display, and a relative +6 or -4 correction with the fine tuning knob.
Rongor Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Thanks again, btw Senaki is exactly the airfield I was testing this:thumbup:
Socket7 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 You should see the signal needle jump to full strength when you get it tuned correctly. Don't be fooled by a partial signal strength. I've gotten very confused by my ADF a couple times because I didn't lock onto the right signal. Practice makes perfect.
Rongor Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Well normally you would then check on the morse ID. But I couldn't listen to it in the Mi-8 yet. I switched my SPU-7 to Radio and the dial to Arc, and turned up all volumes, but without avail so far...
