Hi all!

Is there a way to edit the EngineTF34GE100*******.sdef´s somehow so that my buttkicker stops exploding under my butt due to suddenly additional extremely bass input which is coming from switching to external view mode?

Or what would be much better, ist there a switch in "somewhere .lua file" to decrease the external view´s bass output in general?

It is really no fun with that device when looking planes from the outside!

Hope someone has a solution for this out there in the wide wide world:(

Terrorvogel

Hi Terrorvogel.

I just checked all EngineTF34GE100*******.wav files. I assure you, there's no excessive bass frequency in those sound files. On the contrary they have barely bass sound.

Are you using a sound mod or something? Or maybe the problem's source is not those sound files...

Hi Devrim!

I have Diveplanes´s latest soundmod installed but this bass "issue" has already been before since years without any mod.

Do you use a Buttkicker too? Because i think it is hard to explain, what i exactly mean, if not using one.

When inside the cockpit everything is fine with my actual sound settings (soundcard hardware side) which is matching now, after long try and error, for nearly all of my different planes at the same time.

It is hard to set this up because Buttkicker has to be set very sensitive if you like to feel everything from small events like low starting vibrations of the wings when plane is beginning to stall up to heavy explosions near your aircraft.

Same "issue" i have when turning my head to full left or right with TrackIr.

Then all sounds (engines, releasing flares etc.) are some kind of bass amplified and muffled so my Buttkicker starts clipping, which is really unnatural, loud and annoying. If lowering now the overall bass-input level at soundcard and/or Buttkicker, there is not coming enough bass-signal through and Buttkicker makes no fun anymore or rather useless.

I hope there is some secret hidden switch in the deepest abyss of DCS, which can alter this strange bass-amplifying (probably some hardcoded part of sound engine itself - kind of wanted doppler effect?) when turning head in cockpit or in F2 external view.

Best regards,

Terrorvogel

I don't use Buttkicker. Is it a sound system?

If so, may it need a little adjustment?

If I were you, I test the DCS World sounds with a normal sound system or a headphone. If it's OK, then I would check my current sound system.

I'm sorry, I think I can help more. :\

There is already a way to filter out higher requencies by editing .sdef files but there is no way to filter out lower frequencies, so as I also have a ButtKicker, and while back I wanted to do this also, I have now placed a feature request to ED to add ability to add a low frequency filter also in these .sdef files... so fingers crossed they can do it and have time to do it.

@Devrim

Thx for trying to help!

Buttkicker Gamer 2 i use is a transducer which converting soundcard bass frequencies to tactile vibrations under your butt:D. I can really recommend this device to everyone who is playing DCS and other sims. It is a huge improvement of immersion. Worth every cent and can´t live without anymore!

@Kuky

Yes you´re right, this is exactly the problem. If there will be a way in future to cut lower frequencies in each .sdef´s everything can be perfectly customized.

Good to know that you already have placed a request for this.

Thx for this information!

Lets hope...

I have a Buttkicker, dcs world is far from perfect for it but here's what I did.

On the Amp make sure low filter cutoff is off

High cutoff is on

High cut off freq dial set to 40

Now rest is up to you finding proper volume of Buttkicker in game.

What I do to get an overall good volume is go to the f2 view with the a10c running on the Tarmac. Then increase your Buttkicker volume until the amp starts flashing red. Then decrease volume two clicks or however many it takes to make red flashing go away. Should be set, you can turn volume higher if you fly with no f view keys enabled.

I run diveplanes sound mods and his new airdistortions and also most importantly the landing gear sound adjustment one he made as that standard sound would blow up the Buttkicker upon landing or takeoff. Everybody system is different so experiment.

The Buttkicker settings you are recommending i had already set.

The big problem is, that every single plane has a different audio volume preset and different kind of bass frequencies (due to engines and other stuff). So i´d like to set this parameters individually for each plane so there´s no need to play arround anymore with volume from Buttkicker or soundcard which is annoying.

What we need is the opposite command of "lowpass =" for better customizing .sdef files: "highpass ="

But lets hope that ED has some time to look at this after the relaease of EDGE in far future and its bugfixes...

Thx for your help.
