prime_max Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hello everybody, The manual 94 says: The Generator Disconnect switch has two positions: ON and OFF. When set to ON, the generator provides power to the electrical system when the speed is above approximately 1200 RPM. When set to OFF, generator power is not provided. All electrical equipment on the aircraft is powered by the generator, except the Remote-Indicator Compass, which derives power from the inverter. But in the sim when I switch off the battery and generator, the compass stops working. If the battery is off with the generator working, the compass still works. Can anyone explain it?
saburo_cz Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 generator and battery provide DC (direction current) electrical power but remote-compass is powered by AC (alternating current), so there should be electrical power suplly for AC (400-cycle curent) and inverter is it and this inverter is powered by DC current from battery or generator F6F P-51D | P-47D | F4U-1D | Mosquito FB Mk VI | Spitfire | Fw 190D | Fw 190A | Bf 109K | WWII Assets Pack Normandy 2 | The Channel | Sinai | Syria | PG | NTTR | South Atlantic F-4E | F-14A/B | F/A-18 | F-86 | F-16C | A-10C | FC-3 | CA | SC |
Nooch Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) If the battery is off with the generator working, the compass still works. Can anyone explain it? From what I understand: When the engine is off or running below 1200 RPM, all electrical power is provided by the battery. If your engine is running higher than 1200 RPM, all electrical power is provided by the generator. So basically you can switch off your battery if you are above 1200 RPM and it won't change anything. All systems should remain powered. When you are under 1200 RPM, you can switch off the generator and it won't change anything. Edited April 14, 2015 by Nooch [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
