Trying to get to grips with the F15C, I flew this amazing AC in Lockon a few yrs back, and didn't sem to have any mojor problems with it, however now that I have it in DCS World it's causing me alot of grief, I have set up my profile within the Options page 3 times today because it just didn't want to recognize many of the commands, it still isn't behaving as it should.

So I fly to practice using the Radar, locking up, increasing scan etc etc, I lock up an AC press BVR or whatever and instantly my radar turns itself off,

And it's really beginning to piss me off. if anyone has any helpful comments or ideas, I'm all ears. Going back to my A10c now, at least everything works the way it should do.

cheers guys

Check your controls on both stick programs and in-game assignments. Your controls are crossed somewhere.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

You should be in BVR mode '2' before locking up planes the NAV mode is not intended for that and for some reason you can't transition from NAV to BVR and keep the lock.

that's affirm

and its troubling

several times i've inadvertently been in NAV mode, begun prosecuting a contact, attempt to select weapons...... and i am unable because i'm not in a combat mode - then when i select LRS i lose the lock and have to regain SA on the target ---- this is frustrating and dangerous

also, to switch from RWS to TWS it seems the computer has to rebuild the picture - this again introduces delays and is dangerous ----- transitions between RWS and TWS, and maintaining radar locks should be seamless

System modeling leaves many thing to be desired.

I never use NAV except for taking off, landing or AAR.

As soon as i've taken off and established the climb i press '2' and stay in "combat modes" until I'm on final.

In FC2 you had to change to NAV mode every now and again to get your position relative to WP updated, or to change WP, but fortunately that has been changed.

All good comments guys and much appreciated, I think I finally sussed that out Svende, but I shall try out your way of thinking as it makes alot of sense,

This sim would be so much more enjoyable had ED gone the whole hog and made it like the A10C , which is actually my first aircraft, but that's for another time .

Well.... speaking of why the F-15c is not (yet) a fully level sim like the Warthog, ED made the F-15 amongs many other planes (MiG-29, Su-27, A-10A etc) several years before DCS were born, known as Flaming Cliffs.. FC3 is basically an overhaul of FC2 brought into the world of DCS..

Hopefully, we will one day get a fully F-15c sim :)

Indeed mate, I was flying with Lockon / Lockon Gold years ago, Don't get me wrong I think what ED has done is fantastic, I just hope they will bring about a fully clickable pit for the F15

A fully study sim F-15c would be awesome, and I know its something that is highly wanted by this community :)

I do dare to say that we will one day, eventually, get a highly detailed F-15 module with clickable cocpit, same thing with the Su-27 and migs etc.... if not now, maybe in 20 years lol but I do belive that it will happen some day. Fingers crossed.
