Hi guys,

So despite this apparently being old news I've been out of flight simming for about a year or so thanks to college. Recently I've just jumped back into playing DCS, however I've just learned that upgrading my copy of BS1 to BS2 is no longer supported, and that I will have to re-buy the full version of BS2.

Is this true? Or is it some sort of a misunderstanding?

Your upgrade version should still work if it was purchased before it was stopped being sold. You just cant buy the upgrade version anymore.

Oh I see, in that case where would I be able to obtain a copy of the upgrade? I purchased my copy on (08/19/2012) if it's any consolation. Which I assume is before the upgrade was shelled from the store.

So you are saying you lost your information for the upgrade? Where did you purchase it from? ED site? Steam?

If you log into the ED site, your information may be tied to your account still, or it might be best to just open a ticket on the website.

You could also try installing DCS World, then log into the module manager, if its bound to your account already it should prompt you to download it.

Black Shark 1 was purchased via Steam, The upgrade was purchased via the DCS Store. I've just learned that the Steam version is no longer supported, which leads me to believe that I will have to purchase the full version of Black Shark 2 rendering the key to my copy of the upgrade void. If so, this is most certainly a sad day.

No, you will still need to install BS1 in Steam to install BS2, but your upgrade should still work fine in DCS World.

Ah okay, well I'm using the non Steam version of DCS, I have Black Shark 1 installed on Steam, Black Shark 2 is also installed. Unfortunately I'm unable to activate Black Shark 2. I'm starting think this is why my key won't activate. Last question, I don't want to take up anymore of your valuable time. What is the proper procedure at this point?

Might be best to open a support ticket on the website

They might be able to tell you if there is something wrong with your key or other steps you might take.
