Fenderalac Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) Ive been wondering how should i descent fast (from 8-9k) without getting my engine too cold or overspeeding the plane, the 109 really keeps its speed in the descent. I know i can close my radiator but that doesnt seem to help a lot. Is there a prop setting to set it as sort of a brake, or any other decent descent tactics I should know. If i idle the engine during diving the temp drops too low, therefore my engine gets damaged and shuts off, and if i keep the throttle open i drop like a rock. SlipBall Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I just give her some opposite to each other aileron/rudder, it sheds altitude without causing lots of speed gain
Random Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 You can manually set prop pitch to give yourself more drag but be very careful not to overspeed the engine!

NeilWillis Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Slipping is a great way to lose altitude, just allow one wing to drop, and apply opposite rudder. The attitude of the aircraft will increase drag, and lift is substantially reduced.

As a kid I seen an aerobatic aircraft spinning down until close to the ground at the end of a runway then flattening out and in to land on the runway, for long enough I thought that was how ALL aircraft came in to land :joystick: Sons of Dogs, Come Eat Flesh Clan Cameron

Kelevra Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Spin her down? Yeah a spin : But for me the 109 is really tough to spin, since she recover so well from stall... Edited June 8, 2015 by Kelevra
