Seems like everytime there's an update we need to go through and setup the viewports to be displayed on secondary on monitors.(I haven't done the latest update in fear of having to go through this process yet again. Not sure if this has changed or not.)

Would it be possible/how hard would it be, to have an option in the game options menu to be able to toggle these on or off? What I mean by this is in the game options menu, have a toggle that you can turn on or off to export the MFCD's and other items you would want on a secondary monitor. Then, if you check the box for that item it would display on your screen and you would be able to move and resize the MFCD's and other items to make easier to work with things like Helios.

Just a suggestion.

Do you mean that your monitor configuration is overwritten ?

Note that you can create your own lua files that shouldn't be modified and even save them in your Saved Games/Config/MonitorSetup folder (instead of game folder).

I do that and I never have to touch anything when there's an update.

I don't know about the exports specific to helios though (if any).

Yeah, I've noticed in past updates(not sure about new ones) that when I apply the update my exports don't work and I need to go through the process of exporting them.

I assume I need to back up my monitor export lua, and the individual viewport folders i.e. CMCS, CDU, both MFCD's and so forth. Any other folders/files you recommend in backing up for this issue as well?

But really what I would like to see is in the game options menu have a section to turn exports on or off and then list each item with a toggle to turn it on or off. Once its on be able to move it like this;

For the A-10C i have to go back and replace all the indicator LUAs for CDU, RWR, CMS, Etc,

Simple copy/paste from the backup folder.

Since DCS know people do this often, any reason why they would not make it an option?

The MFDs and stuff will always work, the other stuff (rwr, cms, cdu etc) you have to enable.

Not that hard to patch, then copy the a-10c cockpit /scripts/ folder back.

Why not use JSGME to add the mods after an update and remove them before an update-since DCS now warns you of an impending update? This is what I do and have had no issues.

Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .

Or set the files to read only so they wont be tampered with :-)

I doubt a /Saved Games/DCS/Mods/aircraft/A-10C/cockpit/scripts/ folder wouldbwork for indicators you want to export.

Im pretty sure someone has made a new indicator/exporter scriptnforbsaves games so you dont have to continue to add the files back after an.update,

I'll search around and.see if I.can find it.

Not really, everything you changed is backed up automatically at every update anyway (in _backup.xxx folder).

What I wrote only applies to the files in MonitorSetup, everything else you modified (indicator lua's) will be overwritten as the others stated already.

I use Mercurial to manage the lua and config files, so I get the 3-way merges. Otherwise JSGME is good enough when you're not used to SCM.

I think it's worth trying anyway.

I tried for the Config/MonitorSetup aaaand surprise it worked ;)
