Fairly new to the F-86F, so this is perhaps something with an obvious solution.

Maybe it's something I'm overlooking, but I'm having some problems with my F-86F. Every time I get within .5 NM of any jet, the F-86F shudders and drops like a rock. Doesn't matter if I've got a 90 degree deflection or right up his tailpipe, and whatever my airspeed or how the aircraft is angled. Get that close, I get a loud, rushing sound, and the aircraft drops. Highly annoying when I have a perfect shot at a MiG. It happens sooner (i.e at a greater distance) when I'm on his tail, but it still happens when I have a different angle. The only time I don't get this is when I am coming down from above and ahead, but that isn't always an option.

What am I overlooking? It can't be jet wash (or at least that can't be the only issue), as I get this whatever the angle.

Yeah gotta fly her like an exotic sports car trying to kill you. Respect her and she'll behave.

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.

I find it bleeds of speed badly in turning.. and is very unstable in most turns,, you have to be very gentile with turns...:pilotfly:

Yeah, that's probably it. I'll take her for a spin on Monday, see if it helps to be more gentle. I sadly tend to fly her like I fly the Su-25...
