Pineapple Pete Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Greetings all, Still getting up to speed on F15C and I have noticed that after start and throughout the flight, the amber annunciator light for the ADI is illuminated. This is on a quickie mission I built just so that I could start to learn the airplane. I have looked all over and cannot figure out why the light is on (which probably means the ADI is not getting power or is sensing a fault) as the instrument seems to be functioning properly. I cannot say as much for the autopilot. Making that thing work is beyond me so far. Any ideas? Thanks. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
SDsc0rch Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 ADI - is that in the middle of the instrument panel? or down and to the right - in the corner? i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
feefifofum Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) We meet again, Mr. Pete. Not sure about your light issue, but with respect to the autopilot - set yourself for straight and level flight, then engage attitude hold followed by altitude hold. Same thing if you're trying to set up an orbit, get yourself situated so that you are orbiting level, then engage attitude followed by altitude. Pineapple Pete Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 ADI - is that in the middle of the instrument panel? or down and to the right - in the corner? Sorry, yes it is in the middle of the instrument panel. It is the Attitude Deviation indicator. The light I am referring to is just to right of the instrument and appears to be a switch light. Of course it is not switchable in F15 (too bad). I should have been more explicate. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D

Thanks for the input on the autopilot. I will give it a go later. It is 0630 here in Las Vegas and I should be doing something constructive rather than putzing around with simulators. Can I let you know how I am doing? Still learning the airplane. PPete. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D

Pineapple Pete Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Thanks! I am still setting up my Warthog for the F15 so these keys are yet unassigned. I will give it a go when I get sometime. Thank again. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
feefifofum Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Sure man, shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to fly with you and/or give you lots of bad information ;) Not that you asked, but- On my hog, I like the throttle coolie adjusting RADAR scan up/down/left/right Ministick is TDC slew. You'll need to put some pretty extreme curves on this in the axis tune menu. I don't know what the exact numbers are, but I lopped off about 75% of the response and put a steep curve on before I had any luck controlling the damn thing. Airbrake is airbrake. boat fwd is scan zone increase, boat back is scan zone decrease china fwd RWS/TWS, china back pulse frequency select. pinky button RADAR on/off Puts all your RADAR jubblies at your fingertips when you're in a fight. Aircraft switches perform various startup/jettison/lights functions to taste. For the stick, I have HUD modes on my DMS, TMS locks/unlocks/changes weapons. Master mode button toggles cannon mode, nose gear is nose gear, countermeasures for me are up- chaff, back - flare, left/right -deploy countermeasures (simultaneous chaff/flare) and press to toggle ECM. Trim coolie is trim as I use head tracking to look around the pit. Pinky lever is autopilot disengage, because I was out of productive things to map to the stick ;) Based this off of BMS & the A-10. Pineapple Pete Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 Thanks Mr. Feefi! Glad you volunteered your set up as I was wondering how to ask you without seeming a pest. As I am still scratching my head as to how to set up my Warthog Hotas and keep as much commonality as is possible between my aircraft (just F-15, Sabre, and P-51 at the moment). I figured out to bring the throttle friction lever to life but the mini stick has me befuddled so far. I would like to use it exactly as you describe. Well I had best sign off as the wife thinks I have gone off of the deep end as I am a full time corporate pilot and now this! Best regards and thanks for your help. feefifofum Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) Allllrighty... Go to your axis commands for your eagle, go to TDC slew X, double click on the Warthog HOTAS Throttle column, and assign Joy X either manually from the drop-down menu or by wiggling the stick left and right through its full range of motion. Once it is assigned, click axis tune. Try: Deadzone 0 Saturation X 80 Saturation Y 22 Curvature 25 Repeat for TDC slew Y. Tune to taste. That will get it under control though. Pineapple Pete Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 Dear feefifofum, I did get the ministick to work. Thank you. Tuned the axis as indicated and you are right, the cursor just flies around the screen. Need to work on that some more. Take care, PS sent you a PM It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
