I'm in the market for a new rig, and I'm trying to decide what components I'm going to use. So far, I've decided on the following:

  • Intel core i5 4590
  • 16gb DDR3 RAM

That leaves the major components of a motherboard, GPU and SSD. It will also be a general purpose workstation, and I don't overclock. I'd like to keep my budget around $800 USD. Any suggestions? Thanks

Grab your favorite beverage.! This could take awhile:music_whistling:

I am running a CPU similar (see in sig) and memory you have chosen. Working great. As to the remaining components, cost and performance wise, I am using the ASUS Z97-A MB. It is not an overclockers dream but then I seldom OC.:) As to GPU, I sorta, kinda, went overboard:doh: with the $$$ and got the NVIDIA Titan X. Great card and no complaints except as is usual in the PC world, better/equal has already come along and at less $$$. As to SSD I am using Samsung 840 Pro (Exclusive for DCSW) along with a second Samsung 840 EVO (for OS), and have a WD platter for odds and ends. Unless you are looking for bleeding edge and are willing to pay for the privilege, a comparable setup will do you well in DCSW, and except for the GPU that I chose, you should be able to get what you want within your monetary limit.

Decisions relative to the one you face are never easy as you know the moment you pull the trigger, something "bigger and faster" comes into the market. Such is the PC world. I'm sure others will chime in with their recommendations, plus it never hurts to visit some of the "Geek" sites and see what they are all hopped up about.Good luck.

See my signature, this rig in the US is very cheap and will give you awesome performance in games and DCS.

SSD is not neccesary, with my WD caviar black and a good RAM load times are veeery low, and SSD of course will not give you more FPS, some people think it does but it actually doesnt if you know a bit about technology.

Cheers.
