I have had lock on since day one and have never played on line but i have been thinking a lot about it lately. I have a few questions first:

1. Which program do i use to play online: (hyper lobby or what)

2. is patch 1.12 and 1.12a the same thing and will I need that to play online.

3. will my modman skins still work online.

4. anything else i should know to get online play to work.

Thanks for help,

Mark

1. Hyperlobby or UBI.com

2. 1.12a for HL 1.02 for UBI (generally)

3. No one will see your skins, they will see the skins installed on their PC

4. Know how to IFF and how to start your engines

You can also connect directly to servers using their IP address. This is what I do, there is a post somewhere in the forum with a list of dedicated servers. This cuts out the hyperlobby side.

Just jump in, talk to the people in the server (some won't like it, some will), the best way to learn is to participate. Just dont go around shooting every thing you see, thats where the IFF comes in.

Right click/ save as

The channels are usually listed in the briefings, or the game description when you click on it in HYperlobby, but if you want to set up some "favorites" in the TS box-

The S77th TS channel is: 66.165.113.50

Mostly not novice as far as the in game difficulty settings- externals, labels, etc. But anyone can certainly do that if they wish. The servers are mostly set up to accomodate both A2A & A2G at the same time. It won't always be ideal (for a lone ground pounder) but give it some time, when you have 4 or more per side you have protection, etc. If I am basically un protected against a fighter in a mudder- I just ask- "Hey- If you don't mind- I am no threat to you in this plane - please attack something else." You are fair game if there's even teams, though.

The 504th were running occasional 'noob' days weren't they?

Any idea if they still do (they're supposed to hook my broadband up Tuesday, so I might even finally get online myself..)

Think I'd like to try the Su-25....

Cheers.

I see, so you need to check out the server first, feel out the aircraft around before starting to shoot

And periodically while in game by determining the AOB (air order of battle). You can hit the " ' " key and find out who's flying what. If you have a fave plane, you might not be able to get in when it's busy, but it's also a good time to broaden your experience into the other planes as well.

Good luck, and don't forget to look before you shoot!
