markriley Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I have had lock on since day one and have never played on line but i have been thinking a lot about it lately. I have a few questions first: 1. Which program do i use to play online: (hyper lobby or what) 2. is patch 1.12 and 1.12a the same thing and will I need that to play online. 3. will my modman skins still work online. 4. anything else i should know to get online play to work. Thanks for help, Mark [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] system specs: AMD 1100T X6, Asus Crosshair 4 Formula Mobo, 16 Gigs GSkill DDR3, XFX R9-290X 4GB 512-Bit, X-52 flight stick set, Samsung 2560x1440, Win7 64
S77th-GOYA Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 1. Hyperlobby or UBI.com 2. 1.12a for HL 1.02 for UBI (generally) 3. No one will see your skins, they will see the skins installed on their PC 4. Know how to IFF and how to start your engines
markriley Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 thanks for the reply GOYA, this may sound stupid but what does IFF stand for? dynamocl Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 You can also connect directly to servers using their IP address. This is what I do, there is a post somewhere in the forum with a list of dedicated servers. This cuts out the hyperlobby side. Just jump in, talk to the people in the server (some won't like it, some will), the best way to learn is to participate. Just dont go around shooting every thing you see, thats where the IFF comes in.

chrno120 Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Is there an "all-Novice" server or is it all mixed up? The most stupid member in the forum
S77th-konkussion Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Mostly not novice as far as the in game difficulty settings- externals, labels, etc. But anyone can certainly do that if they wish. The servers are mostly set up to accomodate both A2A & A2G at the same time. It won't always be ideal (for a lone ground pounder) but give it some time, when you have 4 or more per side you have protection, etc. If I am basically un protected against a fighter in a mudder- I just ask- "Hey- If you don't mind- I am no threat to you in this plane - please attack something else." You are fair game if there's even teams, though. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Weta43 Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 The 504th were running occasional 'noob' days weren't they? Any idea if they still do (they're supposed to hook my broadband up Tuesday, so I might even finally get online myself..) Think I'd like to try the Su-25.... Cheers.
chrno120 Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I see, so you need to check out the server first, feel out the aircraft around before starting to shoot The most stupid member in the forum
S77th-konkussion Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Check the S77th server post... It's up & running in novice mode. (mostly) http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=16423 [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Rhen Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I see, so you need to check out the server first, feel out the aircraft around before starting to shoot And periodically while in game by determining the AOB (air order of battle). You can hit the " ' " key and find out who's flying what. If you have a fave plane, you might not be able to get in when it's busy, but it's also a good time to broaden your experience into the other planes as well. Good luck, and don't forget to look before you shoot!
