I tested my server initially with 3D rendering, then switched off with v1.2.16, both with one player connected (myself, via LAN).

 

the results were:

 

ON:

 

CPU = 95-100%

RAM = 3.23GB

 

OFF:

 

CPU = 42%

RAM = 2.63GB

 

Speaks for itself - it's well worth doing.

Should do - it worked for me on 1.5.0 OB

I've just tested with 1.5.2 to be sure, and it does work for me.

 

Only difference is that instead of getting a black screen the screen is light blue (but still blank).

We've ran with 3D Render = False for years now, a must have setting for any MP Host!

 

Also, we limit our server FPS to 10 changed from the default 120. This is another step we have done for the past 3-4 years and it's always helped us maintain as stable a platform we can.

 

The FPS limit is just below the 3DRender command.

Shouldn't lowering server FPS also lower the report rate of a client toward the server? There by causing more inaccuracies in with hit detection and network calculation?

Not AFAIK no. We have ran this way since FC2 using dedicated machines to host and never had any issue.

I always thought for "render3D" option you have to create new file "autoexec.cfg" in <username>\savedgames\dcs\config. That file was empty at the beginning so there was nothing below or above...
