dburne Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Well I found my Track Clip Pro, still in the Track IR package. So I take it out, attach it to the left side of my headset ( fit fine), and now the tracking arm mechanism is just hanging loose. Pretty sure it is not supposed to be that way, augh... back to the hat clip I guess. That's a fairly common thing for me, and a few others I know of - it should just clip right back in if the little prongs are still attached - if they have snapped off you can put one or two drips of super glue on there ( but it will lose the ability to rotate, which isn't a big deal if you set it straight) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode
dburne Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) That's a fairly common thing for me, and a few others I know of - it should just clip right back in if the little prongs are still attached - if they have snapped off you can put one or two drips of super glue on there ( but it will lose the ability to rotate, which isn't a big deal if you set it straight) They must have snapped off I guess as I could see no way to get it re-attached. I mean that dang thing broke before I even had it working for the first time, all I had done was attach it to the headset and was getting ready to put the headset on and give it a try lol. Not long after posting about this, I got some electrical tape I had laying around and taped the thing back together. Guess I got it good enough as it seems to be working ok, but like you of course I can not rotate it. I seem to have it lined up ok though. It seems to work fine, can't really say I see a difference between it and the hat clip. Saves me wearing a hat I guess, but on the flip side if I decide to fly without the headset, then I have to put the hat back on, replug the Track IR in and slide the camera mounted on my monitor back over to center. I may end up just going back to the hat all together and not have to worry about changing it out each time I decide to listen to speakers instead of headphone. SnorreSelmer Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) OK, let me just get one thing straight here: Why are you wasting money on "surround" headsets? You have two ears! Get a regular pair of STEREO headphones, DCS and any other decent game should take care of the rest for you. "Surround" headsets work by taking the sound from the game, run it through some fancy software that tries to guess (hopefully successfully) where the sound comes from and then do some not so fancy "magic" to make it sound "all 3D like". I use a stereo Plantronics Gamecom 388 headset connected to the onboard soundcard, sounds just fine, and it cost a third of what "surround" headsets cost. I have an expensive pair of headphones too, BeyerDynamics DT 770, and they are used primarily for audio recording work. Here's a simple example of how simple stereo sound can trick you into hearing in 3D (use headphones and close your eyes): [ame] [/ame] For more info, watch this video: [ame] [/ame] Edited November 19, 2015 by SnorreSelmer Added info about my equipment... dburne Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 Ok so not necessarily to just revive this older thread of mine, but felt it would be appropriate to follow up on my Track IR Pro Clip woes. So I was a little frustrated with that Pro Clip breaking the first time I put it on my new headset before I even got a chance to use it. So I made a post on the Natural Point forums just expressing my displeasure in the quality of the Pro Clip. Well shortly after that, I had a PM from one of the NP guys asking me for some more information along with the serial number, he stated they had changed the design at some point to make it more durable, and was curious when mine was made. Now keep in mind I have had this Track IR5 for a few years now, and had just now after getting my first headset tried the Pro Clip for the first time, first time taking it even out of the package. So I got that information to him, turns out mine was produced in early 2012 before they had made the change in design, and now there is a new Pro Clip in transit to me due next week , at no charge. Kudos to Natural Point, I have always found their customer service to be excellent, and they have certainly gone above and beyond on this for me. They could have easily told me out of warranty. Oh, and yes still enjoying the headset as well!
