SharpeXB Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Anyone know if it's permissible or possible in the a Maple Flag Missions campaign to change you or your flights load out for the TAC missions which involve managing a flight? It seems like your guys all have the wrong weapons and not enough of the right ones for the task. Maybe that's what you're supposed to manage? Like TAC 19 they're armed with only 2 Mavs and unguided bombs which are ineffective against the armor you're targeting. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5

Sabre-TLA Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 You can try but we can't guarantee the mission outcome. We found that even if the bombs or missiles miss usually you can still get the AI to kill the tanks with their cannons. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
SharpeXB Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 You can try but we can't guarantee the mission outcome. We found that even if the bombs or missiles miss usually you can still get the AI to kill the tanks with their cannons. I have been ordering them to use their gun, but there is a lot of ground fire and they'll get hit. Also the trouble with using the AGM-65s seems to be that the AI will only use them once, even if they have more. Or maybe if one member of the flight is out, the others won't comply. I get the reply "rejoin" after ordering the attack. Since you can only give orders to a "flight", "wingman" or "second element" (that's the second pair in a flight of four, right?) but not orders directly to the #3 in your flight. The mission seems almost impossible to complete with only two wingmen and their limited weapons. I feel like giving them a bunch of CBU-97s. That would do the job nicely :music_whistling: Is that "cheating" or that's thinking outside the box? i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Xavven Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Bringing effective weapons to the fight doesn't amount to cheating. Haha! If your criteria for "cheating or not" is whether the mission was realistic, the realism is already out the window when you've got bugged AI that won't use the weapons hanging on their pylons!
SharpeXB Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Hmm what would cadet James T Kirk do? i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
intx Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Everyone's experience with the TTQ campaign will be different but I do challenge the assertion that you have to change the load-out to complete the missions. One example of that is watching Recon Stewart's videos on the series. As far as I can tell, he was successful in completing all the tasks without changing load-out. Did he have to use guns every once in a while? Yes. Does the series allow you to be sloppy on deployment of certain munitions on certain targets? No. I think that is part of the fun/challenge of their missions.
SharpeXB Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Oh yeah I've watched Recons videos. he got stumped on the TAC 19 CAS Mission Management one as well. SharpeXB Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Well the wingmen still get themselves shot down when trying to use the CBU-97s Maybe giving them guided bombs is better. They seem to want to come in low and get hit by the APCs even though they are using a weapon that can be dropped from 10,000' i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
SharpeXB Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Got it. I managed to pass TAC 19 "by the book" with the default loadouts. even landed my damaged hog without the nav or EGI functioning and my nose gear shot out  i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
